They’re all borrowed apart from LAST and arguably “We’ll Live and Die…”

the crazy thing is we have opportunities for original chants they just don’t catch on;

Hyam the one and only - was never used
Sheaf's the one - never caught on we apparently prefer a “he’s here” retread…
Whoa we’re Halfway there, Joel Latibeaudiere - never sung despite working well and the player not having an alternative.
Going loco - doesn’t work but the Celtic adaption has caught on despite the fact that Sakamoto is from Osaka not Tokyo (iirc).
American Boy - pretty certain someone here came up w a version of this for Haji Wright. Obvs we just adapted a 30 year old Arsenal chant about Ian Wright as it worked better.
His name is a cake…

yeah it sounds good in 15

it's maybe hampered as are other songs this year by what seems to be a less than normal take up of singing by blocks 17 and outwards from the corner
I’m in block 14 helping the kids with their homework to take much notice of this 🤔

Agree with all of this but Tastu was born in Tokyo according to Wiki

Its not about getting on board. The chant is fundamentally broken on a technical level and will never work.
Already does work
Watch the video
Whole blocks are singing it at the last away and home games
Youngsters and older people and women

Yes it works for a block or an away end. It will never work for a full ground because of the time lag between stands. Plus it’s a weird tune/rhyme scheme.
Once you get it it’s really great
Do you need a hearing test? 😂😂😂

Ah if it's passed by the central bureau's body it must be wrong!

It’s shite. But in the latest City Unseen the big man Sakamoto himself said he liked it. So I guess it’s got to stay.

I think people are getting confused, the song is sung once followed by ‘du du du’ to the same tune. I think that’s why people are suggesting they can’t hear words
The fact it confuses people is the part of the problem. A variation of the Super Matt song, which we won’t be needing for much longer, would work far better - for either his first or second name as they both have 4 syllable.

If whole blocks are singing it, why does it sound so crap, indistinct and uninspiring?

I would imagine he likes that there is a song, I doubt he can really hear what is being sung. If an alternative was being belted out I’m sure he would be more than happy.

It's shocking we call him 3 different names within a few lines. Saka, Sakamoto and Tatsu. The tune isn't punchy enough it just sounds like dreary mumbling from block 16 onwards, probably seems okay to the lads in 14 but they need to realise it's not catching on well elsewhere. Do the one the old club does that'll be loud as fuck after a goal

Can't we just nick this one?

Can't get the 3 syllables on "Anthony" to work though.

Taa - aaaat - suuuu
Sa - ka
Running down the wing
Sa - ka
Makes the sky blues sing
Sa - ka
He'll take us to the league

A new song is needed. Imagine this scenario.

Its Wembley, 26 May 2024, its 0-0 in the playoff final with 30 seconds to go of the 8 minutes of added time. Sakamoto cuts in from the wing and curls a left footed shot in at the far post. It’s going to be the winner, and the 40,000 fans in Sky Blue erupt joyously in to “ mumble mumble mumble du du du”.

I like the current one but it's not getting traction as it splits opinion.

I know we've since used it for Simms but when we signed him I wanted us to use "Tats will tear you apart"

“Simms will tear you apart” is massively embarrassing in my view.
I quite liked the one (almost certainly borrowed) that went s’thing like:-

Ellis is a dancer/ he will ghost right past you/ he can score from anywwhere
Sometimes with his left foot/ sometimes with his right foot/ sometimes with his massive hair.

Might need to score more than twice in half a season for either song to work.

Lads, if you want a different Sakamoto song to be sung start it yourselves and see if you can get it to take off.

It's as simple as that really

Also I am sorry but i don't see how this is complicated

When you score, you make the City sing
Saka on the wing, Sakamoto on the wing
Every time you're on the ball, we know
It's gonna be a goal, our superstar from Tokyo
Da-da-da-da, da-da-da-da-da
Da-da-da-da-da, da-da-da-da-da-da-da
Da-da-da-da, da-da-da-da-da
