Is this positive news? With the mentioned planning application in the article now gone in for the Olympic pool on the site of the indoor pitch wasn’t sharing Wasps indoor pitch the only chance we had of retaining Cat 2 status?

Yes, but there is a new pitch going in to replace it. We were only sharing wasps indoor because they were developing it. Now plans are shelved hopefully we carry on
Yeah, they're both trying to build on the same place and it's hard to get planning permission for cloud 9.

No they wanted a state of the art facility and agreed an upgrade with Higgs to the tune of £7million

Interestingly Eastwood talks about timescales and not wanting to hold up any developments, which suggests the wasps training ground and replacement 3g pitch won't be built any time soon.
Sport England and the FA who gave money for original build may now have grounds to step in.

The article says that plans are now being submitted for the proposed Olympics pool on the site. The proposal was that it would go where the indoor pitch is currently situated. No indoor pitch no Cat 2 status which means loss of funding and worse still less attractive to young talent who are already spoiled for choice in the area. There was a story in the telegraph just yesterday about a lad from Bedworth who came through the Villa academy. There’s a family who live in my street whose son is going through the West Brom academy. If we lose the Cat 2 status this just knocks the club back further long term. Look at all the players that have come through the academy and then ask yourself if they still would have come through us if we couldn’t match the academy status of neighbouring clubs?

Hopefully. This may be the only chance that we keep the Cat 2 status that the academy has. Certainly you would hope that the club are sounding this out.

I think I’m right in saying that the alterations on site that Wasps did was only ever granted planning permission on a temporary basis from RBC.
From what I've been told it wasn't a money issue.
It is a question of the CSF/Council 'dithering' between the academy and the new swimming pool and not committing to any fixed timescales.
Wasps have been waiting for clear clarification and couldn't get it.
They have now fallen out with the Coventry Sports Foundation and pulled out.

Not sure how that works, surely they want the wasps bit done ahead of the swimming pool so the 3g pitch/barn will be built ready for displacement when they start building the swimming pool.
Who knows, Wasps are as good at smoke and mirrors as Fisher et al.

My money is on Dave Boddy being such a hardball negotiator that as part of his terms for City signing a new 5 year rolling contract at the Ricoh, he's managed to persuade Wasps to pull out of the Higgs. All to be announced by Dale Evans while shitfaced at 2am prior to the Lincoln game. 
Great news. As for the pool surely that now doesn't need to go where the indoor pitch is or a new indoor pitch can be built where Wasps were planning to go. Pool plans will surely need to be changed anyway as they previously included facilities linked to rugby which won't now be needed - not that they were ever really needed for a swimming pool.
Laughable how much he sounds like Fisher. Sure it won't be long before we see people creeping out of the woodwork trying to persuade us that everything is fantastic at Wasps and this is what they wanted all along.

We made a tradition of that for nigh-on 20 years!
Anyway, much as I wasn't getting excited by their first set, still not sure this set will give an indication as t the long-term viability, regardless of what they say... unless spectacularly bad or good.

Then we end up with years of SISU, not putting a penny in. Waiting hoping for Wasps to collapse. When at the end of it all they still might not end up with the Ricoh.
Where as if Wasps look financially secure. When all the legal action is exhausted. I think there is a greater chance of SISU allowing people who care about the club first to buy it.
