Only seen half as many games as I normally would because of the predicament but from what I can see is there seems to be a lot of excellent one touch football play that has come from the academy but because of the youth of the side ,when the pressure is put on us it it seems that we panic a bit. Good to see Kelly back in he seems to have steadied the ship midfield. Dare I say it, hate to call players but we do seem a better side with more movement when Hiwula is not on the pitch . Good to see Max getting plaudits he loves the fans and the game you could see it on his face at the final whistle, gutted at the late goal. PUSB

The only academy player is Shipley, how has the style of play “come from the academy”?

I’d suspect the average age of the squad is older than the last few seasons with the likes of McFazdean, Godden, and Marosi in.

My mistake, just referring to the short triangle passes they make on the wings in tight areas they look like they could do it all day long. Very quick. But there always seems a 10 minute period where there heads seem to drop and passes go astray

They’re playing excellent football. I think you’re right that the mentality sometimes goes. The difference the other game before and after we’d scored was like different teams. I do wonder if mentality is the biggest part of what makes a player top level though. If any of our players played like they do when they’re on fire every game they’d be playing at a much higher level.

Mostly though I just think Robins and Viveash have done a great job and deserve the credit.

I would think the acedemy side is mirroring the way the first team play when it comes to coaching, style and tactics.

Surprised at some of the negativity on this thread. Absolutely a frustrating way to draw, but it’s a very good result away from home and against a free scoring and on form team.

I’ve said it repeatedly this season; we are a very good team. We have had issues scoring goals, but we’ve also dominated games, coped with numerous injuries to first team players and a seemingly unproportionate amount of bad referring decisions.

I really think fans don’t appreciate how good we actually are, perhaps it’s due to being in Birmingham and less people actually seeing us play at all, or watching on iFollow. It has to count for something that numerous opposition fans have commented on how good we are - they are objective after all.

I get that we need to improve in certain areas, but unlike some of the teams around us, I don’t feel we’ve hit our peak yet. We have a change in formation which I feel suits our players much better and have scored 4 goals in 125 minutes using it. We still have big players to come back and have a January window to strengthen.

I genuinely believe we’ll be challenging this year.

Agree with nearly all of this.

It's interesting as you could argue that only three of our signings over the summer have had a real impact on the team: Marosi, Dabo, and O'Hare.

With Allen, Jobello and now Godden injured we haven't benefitted from the other key signings as we might have expected at this point. So to be in this position with these key players now out shows the depth of the squad.

I see a lot of potential in Kast as well but still don't understand how he's not match fit at this point of the season. I also think Walsh will be influential this season if paired with Kelly in a more advanced role.

I like McFaz a lot and feel better when he's in the side but need to see him cut out the errors. As you say everything being equal we can advance from here.

I don’t understand the thinking behind even signing Kastaneer

I see your point 84. From what I can see Kast is a very dynamic player with pace and physicality. Technically his touch is not there but I hope that's down to match fitness/trying too hard in short cameos. What I would say is that his performance off the bench against Donny was very exciting. Let's hope we see more of the same this season. I see Kast best used at this point running at tired defences after 60 minutes, ideally when we are cruising at 2-0 up and dominating on the counter. Admittedly we haven't been in that game situation for a time!

Ffs all o hare had to do was pass it backwards ibstead triws to run with it and lost it. Cost us a big win

Bit 352 is brilliant formation when the cbs and midfield r brave on ball

Hood result but damn havw to be smarter at ens there. Easy pass backwards was on.

Oh well keep playing 352 plz mr robons

Biamou what a goal. That much quality in his finishes indicates he is not just a non league player

We are a work in progress and we are progressing. Good thing about the second half last Wednesday and yesterdays draw despite their late equaliser is we have come back from
the little wobble we had v Rotherham and Tranmere and look good again and I’m confident we will get better and we have some good players out injured too.

'The Entertainers' failed to win away in an entire season
Remember going to Watford for the last away game thinking surely we'd win one. Lost obvs, absolutely awful.
Scene of the famous sub a sub...

Substitutions:
Runar Normann for Ysrael Zuniga 35
Tomas Antonelius for Paul D Williams 46
Barry Quinn for Runar Normann 78

Watford v Coventry City, 14 May 2000

God apart from the majority of first 11 we had a shit squad that year.

Spent all the money on Keano.

Once he was sold it was obvious what would happen.

Talk about an opportunity lost.

Could have built a team around him and challenged for many years.

One could argue we’ve never really recovered from that transfer-the demise of CCFC definitely started from that point onward.

Isn’t it frustrating that we didn’t just hold the ball in their corner in injury time! We had chances to keep the ball down that end but it ended up back at Marosi, we lost possession and they made it count! Any other club would have against us :(

but that was the only negative I found from the game which can’t be too bad

We would have actually been better off trying to score a 3rd. They were short at the back having sent their big centre back up front, but we played for the corners and got dispossessed allowing them to then break and score.

Agreed we should have wanted a third, although on our second half showing in the main there was only one team who looked like scoring again.
As for us playing for corners? Did we even get near the corner flag in injury time? The frustration is for me that we didn’t, and I recall saying shortly before they scored ‘not that way!!’ So whilst it was a counter we brought it on ourselves

If he hoofed it and they came back and scored he’d be the baddie for “not holding on to it”
no, in this case he cud nip it back to a team mate or just hit it hard as he could. went to turn on it and was pushed off easily. made wrong choice.

Yes O'Hare broke through and we were effectively 2 on 2. I was screaming at him to go for the goal but he drifted to the right looking like he was giving himself the opportunity to go for the corner flag, but in doing so taking away our opportunity to get a 3rd. Then from the edge of the penalty area he played it back to Watson I think it was, and from there we lost possession and the chance of going for the corner flag.
