It wasn’t just the promotions with Hill he turned city from a nothing club to national recognition. He brought excitement to the club and he brought us first division football for the first time the football world was shocked when we had 10000 to a reserve match.MR even if we don’t go up this season has brought excitement to the club people are beginning to talk about us again if we go up they will be talking about us even more just like when we won the cup.
I go into town regularly you don’t see kids or adults walking round in other clubs shirts plenty of city ones though.
so in my opinion I’d put hill sillett and mr on one level

I think the bottom line is that if there was to be a Coventry City Mount Rushmore, then Hill, Sillett and Robins are on it, and in which order is a matter of personal opinion.. for me it’s Robins but nobody is going to quibble too much if someone prefers Hill or Sillett

Agreed but we are talking about the best football manager.

As I said, Hill was an icon of the game and changed many things.

but in terms of on field achievements, the clear facts are that if we beat Luton than Hill can’t compete with what Robins would have done.

I mean- Hill was able to spend a world record fee for a goalkeeper, Robins has us on the verge of the Premier League with Ben Wilson.
I liked this even though I love Ben Wilson

And Hill changed an entire culture, not just of us but football.

Whilst not the whole of football, Robins has not only changed the culture of the club, but managed to unite (largely) a fan base that was fragmented, in our lowest possible situation.

For me, it's tough to pick between Sillett and Robins as no.1. It was either you or CVD who mentioned a out the prestige of the FA Cup and how it was 'bigger' in that era. Combined with the 7th place finishes, its hard to argue against Snoz.

Recency bias does affect results. Seems like 95% disagree with big G but I suppose if you split by generation, that figure likely diminishes. Good debate to have.

i went to the FA Cup Final as a kid, and I’d say that the FA Cup final then was bigger than anything except the World Cup. You just cannot overestimate how big it was, absolutely awesome. I don’t think it’s possible to even try to explain the enormity of what we achieved that season, the city was on a high for ages

no matter what happens now, nothing will ever top that one day.

my god.. no wonder he doesn’t want to acknowledge Robins after that absolute howler 😂

I saw he begrudgingly said that Robins is no more than our “best manager since relegation”, so it seems he also rates Don Howe and Terry Butcher higher than Mr Robins 🙈

I’ve said some shit on here but the Jackett suggestion is the stuff of sky blue talk legend

Barnsley paying £20m to loan Dike was pretty funny too

Or when wank chops gave it stacks about Celtic just for Rangers to win the league

I’ve barely ever mentioned rangers or Celtic in my life and I never said Barnsley paid 20m for a loan but nice try old friend.

For me he will be number 1 should we achieve promotion, an argument to say he could be number 2 and number 1 only after establishing us back in the top flight.

As Grendel says for him the managers of the 70s and 80s will always be remembered fondly by him as they were the 'glory' days when he was going home and away.

For me who has has been supporting since 2003, Robins would be the manager who led us into a new age and returned us to the promised land and who returned premier League football back for the first time in my life time.

All hypothetical of course at the moment and I'm sure Luton will be trying to make sure it doesn't happen.

Isn't your tagline (or whatever its called) something like about treating each other with kindness?

Calling many posters losers isn't exactly sticking to that mantra...

I apologised for calling you a nonce. At least I’m a big enough a person to actually reach out to you but you just acted the bell end as usual. I was willing to put our differences aside but you’re just interested in being a troll and hijacking every thread with your boring antics.

Treat people with kindness… side note, I text CWR about the final and seeing Harry in the same week and Clive made a one direction joke which was really funny

It's a shame we didn't get to see the tactically superior Gareth Ainsworth take charge, oh what could have been 😢

It’s laughable. 23 years old and trolls people on a forum constantly. Most 23 year olds are out with their pals or shagging birds. Strange human being
