Get Cov Back to the Ricoh response to Wasps Ricoh Takeover (1 Viewer)

Not sure what the issue is - its just business. SISU took business decisions (albeit rather ridiculous) when they went off to Sixfields. They have and have had every opportunity to invest in the stadium but declined to do so. Not even a one-step at a time approach.

If Wasps really want to invest into ACL and it makes business sense to them, then why not. If SISU want to do the same, they can!

Does anyone know anything about this Delloitte's bunch?

Would they be better custodians of our club than SISU? Not hard I know but if someone can see the value in ACL/The Ricoh perhaps they can see the value in our club?Maybe they could do a deal to buy CCFC at the same time?

Deloitte provide 'professional services' (!) to big companies. Financial advice and that kind of thing. It looks like they have been brought in to assist with raising finance and establishing the bid for the Wasps consortium. They have some specialism in the sports markets I think.

It's a good point about seeing the value in the club or buying at the same time but it does show how endlessly complicated all this is. Makes me pine for the days of the Robbins family and Highfield Road...it seemed a lot simpler then..,

So u assume you fully supported Cardoza in getting CCFC to Northampton and was outraged at ACL for trying to stop a legitimate business process?

What's the issue with robs post? The council and the club, now the club is back should be working towards the club being offered a similar deal.
Wasps should only play at the Ricoh if they played there in a cup game.
The telegraph has always been biased towards the council. We've all been told a certain journalist was put on garden leave because he wanted to write something other than whathe was told too. The tea boy they put in his place just don't measure up in comparison really

I'm just waiting for someone to suggest that the judge was on the CET's payroll because as far as I can see all the telegraph have done is report the facts. If SISU have some facts that they could provide that would either show them in a better light or the council in a worse light I'm sure it would have come up in the many many column inches that TF, ML and even JS have been given in the CET. But all they have is the same old regurgitated shit (including badger shit IIRC) that no one believes. So to all the conspiracy theorists out there ask yourself is that the fault of the CET or SISU.

For the record I neither work for the CET or buy it. The only time I read it is if someone puts a link up on here. I thought I'd just better point that out before the same conspiracy theorists decide I'm on the CET's payroll along with the judge.

Cheers Rob. So basically they're tasked with finding the investors to make the ACL purchase happen as the guy who owns Wasps can't do it by himself? Is that about right?

Just to add. Would this mean that they'll be investing in ACL rather than Wasps?

Are you on the CET payroll, Tony?

Firstly thanks for the info in your posts Rob. Its still not 100% clear if this is a 'Wasps' consortium though is it?

Y'know I've often found that I have far better and more wide-ranging sources than you which is a bit disappointing seeing as you're getting paid for this. I s'pose I do have a few years head start on you tho'...

Look, I'll be straightforward here...we all know that the Cov Tel has a particular bias in all of this and most people in the local media and many of the public are always concerned about the close relationship between your editor and the high-ups in the Council, the very people your paper should be holding to account.

And your link kinda feeds my theory...the figures are from June when the CCFC at Sixfields story was raging. By fanning the flames again with us back home you get to keep the figures going up.

You're not saying that Simon doesn't know anybody in Portugal are you:facepalm:

I presume that if the deal does go through with the participation of JLR then your resignation will be on yous MDs table at the first opportunity!

If it came out via the mannerism that Rob suggests that is worrying. That's suggests it was not an intentional leak to give SISU a chance to get their arses into gear.

Well, there is the problem (allegedly) of contracts & commitments of ACL and the short lease but my personal view is that if a long lease can be sorted out then owning ACL is not a problem. Others say that ACL being replaced by another entity might be better. I don't think that there's any chance of the freehold of the stadium being under consideration unless someone threw a ridiculous amount of money at it.

From what I can gather the news broke because a prospectus from Deloitte's corporate finance dept. went out to prospective private investors. I'd love to see a copy but it sounds like the deal would be for buying 90% of ACL leaving the Council with 10%. And being technical, I think it would be a consortium including the current owner of London Wasps rather than London Wasps Holdings Ltd but not 100% definite about that.

The Andy Turner piece seems like an attempt at back-pedalling after the reaction to the opinion column & the Bob Ainsworth comments and I'm certain that negotiations have been going on for a while as it was mentioned when Ann Lucas made a council chamber statement and when Chris Robinson took over at ACL.

The thing that has got a lot of fans worked up is the timing. We've just got back to the Ricoh, everybody is enjoying the football (don't mention the away form!) and the table is set to allow all parties to settle down and start slowly moving forward by leaning to trust each other and carry on building on the good relationship being forged by the likes of Waggot & Robinson.

What do we get now? More brinkmanship, media rattling and unsettling of fans. And a total kick in the teeth to Cov rugby fans & London Wasps fans.

Maybe CT editor Alun Thorne (Villa fan I hear) was getting jumpy if the readership figures were dropping because Cov fans weren't in a constant state of anger about what was being done to the club and so he needed to get everyone all riled up again? Maybe I'm just being cynical ;-)

Rob they reported Mr Ainsworth's opinion.
They did not say it is theirs.

They reported the story about wasps, I would be very angry with them if they didn't as I am sure you would.

After the Mr Ainsworth story some suggested this is the opinion of the CET.

They have clarified its not.

Given rob appears to know more than the CET I suggest you direct your anger elsewhere

No anger just pointing out that the CET have never said they think the wasps move is a good thing.

So I can't see how clarifying their position on it can be classed as back tracking

Isn't Land Rover actually Jaguar Land Rover which in turn is owned by Tata Motors, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tata_Motors which is a rather large concern.

It is and, judging by the deal that Saracens did with Allianz, would be a very smart move by JLR.

Allianz paid Saracens something like £8m for naming rights to a 10k stadium, so a controlling interest in ACL (with naming rights for the stadium) would be fantastic deal so long as Wasps were playing there.

Frankly any consortium backed by JLR has got to be better than f***ing SISU, if a major consortium such as that would take a controlling interest in ACL and buy CCFC then things might start looking up, I can but hope.

Well maybe that is their longer term plan, at this rate SISU could get themselves stranded without a ground and without the finance to build a new (inferior) stadium. Time for them to wake up & smell the coffee!

I think JLR have more sense than to buy the club.

I don't think Simon has been getting much joy looking at this tweet..?

@gmkonline Waiting for clarification on one question. Also waiting on CCFC to respond to similar questions. Nothing as yet.

JLR wouldn't invest in a football team, be suicide for them, TATA On the other hand, well that's a different kettle of fish! One thing is we font know got sure if talks were carried out while the return deal was negotiated. and I am guessing Simon us waiting on questions regarding that!
