Hide your nooses.

Put away the cyanid.

Switch off the gas oven.

We are still only 3 points from the playoffs with plenty of games to play against those above us.

So step back from your ‘sack the manager‘ posts and erase your ‘this team is shit’ sentences.

It ain’t over till it’s ducking over!

Then we start the dissection!

9 points from automatic places. That isn't good enough. Playoffs is not good enough unless we win them.

Automatics long gone now. We have a less than 50/50 chance of the play offs now simply because we have to accumulate more points than some of the teams above us which means our form has to improve significantly and others have to dip. All things considered, it's out of our hands to some extent .

It was just a single point off the automatics just over two weeks ago. Now it is 9.

As I said a few days ago, posts like this have the ring of the Mowbray season.

We are going backwards at the moment. Yep, it is only 3 points, but there is a trend developing and we have now just lost 3 games in a row.

We can't just keep saying we're in with a great chance of the automatic places and then that we're top 7 and then it's we're just 1 point off the top 7 and then it's we're 2 points off the top 7 and then it's 3 points off the top 7 etc. etc.

We need to change things. It clearly isn't working and even when we were winning there has been post after post after post on here saying we set ourselves up wrongly away and that we don't create enough chances.

Been the same thing all season.

Pointless saying we are only 3 points off the playoffs if we don't do anything about it.

2 and half games now of awful performances and three very tough games coming up.

Personally I would be over the moon with 3 draws from those games. 3 draws though will surely have us plummeting down the table further.

Needs a great big dose of reality. It's pointless only being 3 points off the playoffs if we are going to continue to set ourselves up the way we have been.

Exeter have 2 games in hand. In theory we’re 4 points off and considering where we were this time last month is shocking to say the least. This reminds me off of 2 years ago. Fans saying only x amount points off while we were playing shit. The cup run has been a major distraction

Great post. This isn't a new problem because we've lost 3 games. It has been a problem all year, and for that reason I don't see Robins changing anything.

My point is..

Should we give up on the season already and celebrate shit like we do every single time City lose.

I am not giving up hope yet.

I’ll save my rhetoric for when it’s mathematically impossible for us to achieve promotion (whether automatic or play offs).

Just don’t fancy wallowing in self-pity and misery. Yes it’s fuckin terrible being a city fan but it could be a lot worse.

Let’s hope this cup run ends on Satdee and our league form picks up.

Definitely shouldn't give up hope but you can also see the worrying signs we have seen so many times. You can't just ignore those.

Am I reading this right? It could be a lot worse? We’re in league 2. Our lowest position in modern times. Your a Mad Man. I’m on the way back from Essex and it’s depressing to think where we currently. We should be going for autos now we’re struggling to make the playoffs! It can’t get much worse!!!

I beg to differ. You simply couldn't pick a worse team to support.

No one is saying to give up. We can't give up as a team and we shouldn't as supporters.

Something needs to change sharpish or we will indeed be saying it's only 4 points and then only 6 points and then we'll it's 9 points, but still mathematically possible.

3 points might as well be 10 unless Robins shakes things up and changes the way we play.

The thing is with football, you don't know were your next goal is coming from, you can't see the team winning, then a great run is just around the corner.

Can narrow defeats or draws be turned into wins? The margins are fine. It's a confidence game.

We haven't managed to turn narrow defeats into draws so season. How exactly are we about to start now??

Agree with everything except the loss on Saturday. Of course the league is a major priority but if we pulled off the impossible I'm sure that wit 5 mins to go and a lead you'd be sweating bullets and counting deconds the same as everyone else that "does'nt care" PUSB

So, yes, just 3 points off the playoffs. The next 2 games are away and are against 2 of the in form, best of the top 7 teams.

Our last 6 away matches:

0-2 Morecambe
0-1 Port Vale
1-0 Carlisle
0-1 Exeter
1-2 Forest Green
1-2 Colchester

It's all well and dandy saying we are just 3 points adrift.

Look at the trend. Why would we believe we are suddenly going to turn that away form completely on its its head?

Based on what? Plain old wishful thinking?

Our away form will only change if we change the way we play. Why would we think Robins will now suddenly do that? Based upon what? He has shown great reluctance to change.

I would have so much more faith if we had at least competed a little bit in these matches. Putting in just one half of decent play is just not going to cut it.

Our away form at the moment is an abomination.

I’m with you in principal, we always see ‘boom or bust’ on these forums, depending on our last result. We should be concerned however, we have rarely been convincing this season, our away form is disappointing, and just as we prepare to face two of our most difficult away matches of the season, we have the distraction of a difficult Cup game, and a series of injuries to key players. I really hope your optimism is proven to be correct, but the next two league matches could see us with too big a mountain to climb. It’s a tough ask for Robins to navigate us through the next couple of games - good luck to him.

I'm not panicking and I'm not saying robins out, but this does have the feel of the Mowbrey 'Armstrong and Murphy' season in which we carried on saying everything's OK, we're 4th, we're 5th, we're 6th, we're one 1 point off the play offs, etx., etc until we were cut adrift and finished outside the play offs.

My big concern remains around the lack of goals, especially as we've started conceding a fair few, our away form which is terrible and the fact we struggle against weaker opposition.

Autos should have been the aim, 9 points adrift and only 14 games left now looks highly improbable. Play offs are only good if you win promotion.

119 minutes of this season we have been in front by 2 clear goals. Out of 2880 minutes played. That tells you all you need to know about our tactics. Even bottom of the league Barnet have managed more.
5 defeats out of the last 6 away games. That should send massive alarm bells throughout the coaching staff.

We are not even managing draws. 5 defeats in 6 away matches and just 3 goals scored in those 6 matches.

I'm not too sure people are watching or have watched the last 3 games which have shown no improvement at all.

First thing we did from kick off is hammer it straight out again.

Yes while we might just be 3 points, we aren't showing any signs of improvement and robins doesn't seem to have any urgency.

It's not as if opposition keepers are having games of their lives and we are unlucky, we create nowhere near enough.

Yup. That's it in a nutshell.

How many keepers have had absolute blinders against us this season? We simply are not creating anywhere near enough chances to consistently win matches.

Fergie beard old lad when do you do something about it then ? Apart from being out manoeuvred most weeks we are awful to watch most weeks too, Robins won’t change his way of playing which probably explains why he hasn’t lasted much more than 2 years at any club he’s been at.

I don’t think he knows how to play any differently! I think him having to pick Bayliss was forced upon him out of nessesaty and he got lucky. You can tell each game I go to that he is not changing anything
