Good article anyway.

We have done well in the local area. The only Cov born player I can think of recently playing at a decent level who hasn’t been in our system is Daniel Crowley but I read a few years back something about his dad being here as a youngster and wasn’t happy with City’s treatment of him which meant he went to Villa.

He left Villa and joined Arsenal when he was 16 for big money. Never made a senior appearance & had a few loan spells was sent back early now playing for SC Cambuur in the Dutch second division on loan after being released by Arsenal. Still just 20. Enough time to turn his career around.

Maddison was wanted by big clubs at the same age. Stayed with City, got himself into a first team at 17 and hasn’t looked back.

Smaller club = better pathway & chance of talent being recognised.

We had the same happen to our U16 players this season. One left to United and good luck to him. You can’t begrudge a huge move like that for him and his family. He’s a great player for his age and has been recognised by England. Sometimes though it’s hard to adapt to being one of the best players in your age group and standing out to moving to a club where every player is at that level and some even better.

Few others in the age group had interest but they signed their scholarships with us.
