What’s the fooking point starting a thread and naming 90% of the players in the first post?
Or am I missing something!

Sorry? Is there already a thread? I checked and couldn't see. Why are you talking like that anyway? I've just been outside and seen the whole street come out and clap. Made me feel so happy. Then I read that.

So sorry to have upset you.

You haven’t upset me lol but the idea is to name 1 or so and let everyone name the others. What’s the point in naming 90% of them when it leaves little scope for people to answer. ;)

In the early prem years we fielded our first “All Scottish forward line for 86? Yrs. (Back when there were 5 in the front line)
I think it was
Carr
Hannigan
Stein
Gibson
Hutchison
Feel free to correct if I have wrong players

I think Neil Martin was one. (Tommy Hutch didn't arrive until 1972) Colin Stein was later also. Gerry Baker?

Back in the UK!
How bout the worst Scottish IX

I'll start us off with Davie Bowman. Shocker for us. As I remember Don Mackay signed him without ever seeing him play!!!

Also who was the young lad (midfielder) we signed from Rangers a few years later???

I don’t remember him, but my mate used to go on about how bad Dougie McGuire was.

Not Dougie, although he's a good shout for being rubbish.

I also found Stuart Urquhart was he the homesick one??? But he wasn't the one I was thinking of...

The guy I'm thinking of was a Centre Mid who went on to a fairly successful career after he left us.

Could I be thinking of Sandy Robertson?????

Sandy Robertson was dreadful. Touted in Scotland as the new Gascoigne, I think they meant Jill

I thought of Gerry Baker but completely forgot Neil Martin
I'm sure I read somewhere, sometime ago, that altho Gerry and his brother spoke with broad Scots accents, neither were born in Scotland! Childhood upbringing - and parentage. I think they could have played for either USA, (Gerry's birthplace) England or Scotland.

Gerry played for USA, Joe played for England.

Bowman joined about the same time as Jim McInally who also turned out to be a disappointing signing. They both left for Dundee United where they had long & successful careers coinciding with the club's best period in their history, including success in Europe.

It was Baker, Hannigan, Martin, Carr and Gibson ( which I remembered), against Chelsea at home (which I found in a CT article)
Hannigan scored the only goal.

View attachment 14607

It was 2-1

Bobby Tambling for Chelsea in the first half. Then after 47 mins Gerry Baker headed an equalizer from an absolutely exquisite cross from the man himself- Gibbo. Hannigan got the winner with a shot from the edge of the box on the hour. Neil Martin was one of City's best ever centre forwards.

I was there, hanging onto a rail at the back of the terrace under the Sky Blue Stand, having to do a running commentary to a toothless Chelsea woman of a certain age who was too short to see the game herself. Also iirc John Tudor played centre back alongside Setters. It was a good team.

That day I knew we could stay up.
