Wasn't expecting that.

It depends what style Robins wants to play, Chaplin isn't a lone striker.

If we can make a profit and have somebody better lined up I would sell him. Nothing against him as he seems a great lad to have a around.

If we played 4-4-2 with a big target man then I would keep him to play alongside him.

Wow. Would definitely take the offer. He's a good player but suits their system better than ours.

If this helps put money into the pot to sign Bright then I am all for it.

I'm a fan of Chaplin and I do think he would've come good, but we have various strikers at the Club.

I think take the cash here. Can't see him fitting in to our system if we do the same as last year.

Only too good an offer to turn down if we have someone lined up instead. On a side note, can't believe someone will not trump our Bright bid. Championship wages v ours? Amazed if we pull it off.

Yeah I agree with the above posters. I would reluctantly agree and take the cash. He just doesn't fit into our system. The only way I can (potentially) is if he's positioned beside Biamou - but even then there's no guarantees really.

#16 comments in and not one says use the money for McNulty.
Have we actually moved on

Again it depends on the system we play.

Could McNulty play where Bright did last year in the number 10?

Snap their hands off. Saw nothing last year to show he will come good. That header missed from a yard out was abysmal

What I can’t understand is why he was Robins’ number one target for what seemed eons...only to not play him in a system that played to his strengths.
Yeah, odd.

I like him and think he has promise, but it never, ever seemed that he would fit into our system, so the signing has always seemed an odd one and puzzling.

if this would fund bright then its the easiest decision ever. Whole upturn in form when Chaplin dropped out and bright come in. Having Bright behind the striker and Chaplin behind the striker is the difference between promotion and staying in league one

It was abysmal but it was a classic case of lack of confidence. Got caught in 2 minds over whether it was going to drop or if he should head it and ended up doing neither - full of confidence he doesn't even have to think about what he's going to do.

Word has it from Ryton he is a really good finisher. I wouldn't mind either way. I think there is a lot to come from him, but I don't think he is quite ready yet

I would personally hope that we would want more than 700K for Chaplin. He is still very young, got a lot of time to improve and think he will put away those chances he was missing. You know for a fact he will if we sell him.

I'd take the money. He might come good, but good move for him, we make money, put an add on clause and freshen something else.

All joking apart if we did get Sparky for that money now and you could do a straight swap I don't think there would be too many complaints, however all the old pompey contingent and Grimmer have all moved on too, so not the same club he left.

McNulty struggled in MR's preferred system didn't he. We'd have to go back to 4-4-2 if we signed him realistically. That then begs the question: Where does that leave our interest in Bright?

Championship club make bid for Coventry City player

Thread on their forum : Connor Chaplin (Just in case they have people in the know at that end).

I know they were after him when we signed him and they do play with a big striker that may suit him.
They have a nice page on their forum with links to other clubs forums so that you can find them quickly all in one place under the heading "Rival Forums" - any chance you could put a similar link on here please Nick? Often saves trawling through to find the most popular one that will have info on.

Sell him, put the money towards someone who will suit the formation we play.
