Didn't realise Lance Percival , played for us . to Jimmy's right , for our younger viewers
Now that is a thing of beauty.......How I loved that team, that man. In my lifetime no one above him.
First team squad of only 15 players?
can you imagine the meltdown on here if they brought those socks out now?!
What a kit, what a team what a manager. Perfection
A picture of my old Dad who passed away in March, he gave me the skyblue blood in the early 80s. Cant face going now after 24 years a season ticket holder, we decided not to renew this year until sisu fook off. Well it seems Dad did and God knows how I will feel the first game this year.
You cant get the days back unfortunatley. PUSB Apologies for the non picture. Imagine an old fella and me my brother and nephew lol !
I'm sure you get my drift!
remember that team with pride I saw every game that season
Was before I was born.......just
In those days there were no first team squads. but we had a cracking reserve team to pick from. No such luxury of three subs and a 7 man bench to chose from.
Yes and they were heavy wool too.
Notice the impeccable shirts - not a sign of any sponsor's logo!
The only issue I take with the photo is it shows only the present team. Missing is George Hudson who was sold by that time but who was perhaps the greatest contributor in our rise through the divisions.
Can anyone name all the players? There's a couple I don't recognise.
PS: I love the socks, it's what makes the strip interesting. The collar and cuffs are also brilliant.
No Dave Clements. I thought he was our full back in 66-67.
Think you can click the blue "upload a file" button under where you type a normal message and you shop be able to stick your picture up mate
Or Willie Carr?
I believe he was just starting out in 1967, might have still been an apprentice.
Not a regular first-teamer at that point.
Surprised he's not there.
The ones I recognise are (left to right)
Back Row: ?, George Curtis, Bill Glazier, ?,?
Middle row: Ron Farmer, Dietmar Bruck, John Tudor, ?, Ernie Machin, Brian Hill
Front row: ?, Ian Gibson, Jimmy Hill, Bobby Gould, Ronnie Rees.
I'm sure John Key and Mick Kearns are in there somewhere.
Brian Lewis, George Curtis, Bill Glazier, Mick Kearns, ?
Middle row the guy next to Tudor is Mick Coop
Front row John Key is next to Gibson
Is the book out now?
Middle row far right...Mick Kearns!
I remember him breaking into the first team after we were promoted, around 1969ish I think. I can't be certain of actual dates these days.
Definitely remember seeing a reserve game & my mate commenting on Willie having good season & likely to play in first team soon.
Back: Brian Lewis, George Curtis, Bill Glazier, Mick Kearns, Dudley Roberts
Middle: Ronnie Farmer, Dietmar Bruck, John Tudor, Mick Coop, Ernie Machin, Brian Hill
Front: John Key, Ian Gibson, JH, Bobby Gould, Ronnie Rees
I was looking through an old programme from the following season and a name I had totally forgotten popped out of the team list on the back page-Pat Morrissey, who was part of the squad in 66-67. Willie Carr also made his debut in 67 in the first division.
Middle row far right Brian Hill
Separate names with a comma.
