Northampton Town FC, winding up order. Horrendous news?? (1 Viewer)

So, as Colin1883 posted on another thread, Northampton Town FC have been served a winding up order by HMRC. So, I have a number of thoughts on this:

* Feel sorry for the fans.
* Not the greedy owner.
* This doesn't mean they're going out of business.

But, if worst case scenario happened and they did go out of business, I think it would be disastrous for CCFC. There of course could be the option for some sort of Northampton Phoenix club coming back, a la Rangers, but if not, wouldn't this give SISU an easy option for a stadium? They wouldn't have the audacity to move us there Permanently would they now they've see how it could work?

Am I worried too much about nothing?! Someone re-assure me....!

Feel sorry for the fans, it's not their fault they have shit owners like it's not our fault. I wouldn't want ANY team to go down the tubes, no matter who they are. Every football team from the smallest to largest has a loyal fan base, the only thing that differs is the amount of fans there are.

Surely those toothless spunks at the FA would stop it this time. We have a deal in place to play a the Ricoh, no justification to move us at present.

Things are going better than they have for a while, I doubt they would want to upset the apple cart at the moment. We're getting the number of required bums on seats they said we need, I can't see them blowing that and moving to Northampton to play to a few hundred when they probably will take a further rent deal at the Ricoh, if it comes to that and the terms are right.

with one exception.....MK Dons.

Terrible news for NTFC fans, but many clubs have been served papers by HMRC & more often than not, it can be the catalyst that starts the process to remove the shitbag owners.....

Good luck NTFC fans. Fuck you Cardoza.

I think we're a long way from them going bust. However if it did happen and Wasps kicked us out then you would have an empty ground and a team without a ground.

Don't think it really makes sense as we know our fans won't go and their crowds aren't huge even if they all started coming to watch us. Saying that I never believed we'd be playing there in the first place so never say never with these lunatics in charge.

I would be surprised if they moved us there as it wasn't a great success last time, I feel sorry for the fans that were against our move there but the rest bad luck.

They also have a £10M loan that needs to be paid back tomorrow to Northampton Council. Makes you think where all the money has gone.

Maybe someone's pension fund?

I was under the impression that moving a club permanently is no longer allowed. So nothing to worry about.

Absolutely fuck all to worry about, do people just love to worry about things for no reason on here like all the time or something?

Feel sorry for the fans, yes because some of them felt really sorry for us didnt they.. not.

Their is not a chance in hell this will affect CCFC in anyway shape or form.

Erm...not really.

We want/need our own stadium.
Wasps will want to turn the seats yellow at some point.
SISU have taken us to Northampton before.
Sites for a new stadium appear to be thin on the ground.
Northampton might have a stadium but no team soon.
It's a golden opportunity for SISU as the stadium development there was to include other aspects giving 365 days a year revenue.

I'm not naïve enough to think that it's a certainty to happen but off course it could happen.

Its ok they are going to change their name to Facebook, that way HMRC will charge them f*ck all taxes, and Cameron will probably offer Caroza a place in his cabinet as a business adviser.

It's under one hundred grand - it won't happen

The taxpayer won't mind. They'll just accept cuts in services instead and besides it's not like a council have to answer to taxpayers is it.

Coventry City Council certainly don't consider that sort of thing to be important. What did Lucas say about referendums recently?

Well. Then the taxpayers of Coventry should vote her and labour out. Assuming that the majority think she has either got it wrong in wanting to join Birmingham greater council or whatever it will be or for not holding a referendum on it. Local elections are the opportunity for the voter to hold them to account.

I assume that not only you will be voting you'll also not be voting labour? Assuming you're a Coventry taxpayer of course.

Your level of hypocrisy knows no bounds.

I don't live in Coventry but am a Labour voter but would never vote for Lucas and her cronies.

basically cardoza's "business partner" appears to have managed to get his hands on it.
This business partner's teenage daughter has an instagram account showcasing her family's lavish lifestyle. Not good when you consider that money was meant to help a football club and the community. The council didn't put anything in the loan agreement to prevent this kind of thing from happening though and the "club" were still allowed to keep accessing more and more of the loan even though they had nothing to show for it. The fact that the reputation of the politicians is on the line makes me hope that the council won't go too hard on the club as it could potentially reveal how shockingly they have handled this situation.

But basically though, cardoza is a prick. Wife's a coventry fan, I'm a cobbler. Obviously he's not a very popular man in our house.

Purely hypothetical of course, but how would Northampton fans take a Northampton Sky Blue/Coventry Cobblers?

Except that the last time voters went to the polls Corbyn wasnt labour leader, so he could hardly be a fanboy could he.

He stated that he votes Labour, that would indicate support for that Buffoon Corbyn

There's your answer.

Thought as much.
Worked there for a bit when we were between homes surrounded by Northampton fans who went along.
There were a few "I could get used to this, they should move in permanently" type comments.
I really didn't get it so had to ask!
