Simms + Wright = ? (1 Viewer)

Wright or Simms aren't getting loaned in January, that's nonsense. Even if we're playing the box consistently you need 3 strikers in the squad.

Plus I don't think either of them have much to complain about. They've both been given opportunities to cement a starting role and neither has taken them.

The obvious problem with your question is that you would always rather have one player in your first XI who can score 20 goals instead of two players who can score 10 - if it takes two players to replace one player's goal output then you have to make compromises elsewhere. Until recently we have been trying to accommodate two strikers who are struggling to score goals, and the whole tactical setup has been suffering as a result.
I agree, We were playing with one striker lat season much of the time, so therefore to make a better comparison you have to look at how the AM's were performing in terms of goals. Which means adding in Hamer's goals, and probably considering Allen's contribution too.

Playing the box is just an admission that our recruitment has been a failure.

Our midfield are useless at goals and goal contributions, yet many on here are pushing to play the box. Leave our most expensive players, and the ones most likely to score goals on the bench. It is insane. I love Robins, but if he keeps it up for me that is a red card given the money spent. Total waste.

If we send either Wright or Simms out on loan in January then it will be much, much more difficult to attract top players in the next summer window. Any player with options wants/needs to know their next manager will back them - farming out Wright or Simms sends out the message that we're not really bothered.
I predict Wrught won’t be with the club by the end of January. To much noise I’m hearing about he hasn’t settled, enjoying England and it appears he is finding the standard a lot higher than the Turkish league.

I’m pretty sure if King could claw back anything near what we forked out for Wright a deal will be struck. As somebody mentioned on CWR why did we take a huge risk on a £7.7m signing when possible better lower risk signings could be made in the UK?

Bit clownish to be spending that on a player from the Turkish super lig. Whoever is responsible, we spaffed it right up the wall on total dross.

Robins admits he decides who to actually sign

I may be wrong here but the standards not great in Turkey.

Rank bad recruitment.
It’s a bit of a minefield but there are definitely some decent players out there - mostly at the big 3 though.

I do think Wright’s physical profile is a big reason he was signed.

Isn't there some UEFA rule that you're not allowed to transfer twice in a season? I guess there might be a way round it if we loaned him out in January in lieu of a sale in the Summer.

Some interesting comments. I think it fair to say the pair of them have come on in leaps and bounds of late and confidence in one's own abilities has a lot to do with it. Pretty much everyone, myself included, was critical of both of them. Glad to be proven wrong and more than happy to eat humble pie.

The facts are early season Simms was dreadful and Wright was slightly better. They’re both playing really well now. That doesn’t mean pointing out they were playing poorly early on was wrong.
Come on that’s a pretty woeful attempt to defend some of the absolute drivel on this thread

I thought I heard today Sergeant only has 14 for Norwich while Wright has 16 + 2 for USA as well?
