Absolutely vile and disgusting that some Wednesday fans are defending it saying 'Well don't dish it out if can't handle it yourself.' Never an excuse for racist behavior, NEVER. Again not all their fans are like that no and I don't think its essentially right to think their all racists.

Regardless, hope they find whoever did this and ban him. Hell, flip an opposing player off, call him a dumbass and what have you, but never resort to racist gestures and similar.

I like Wednesday as a club and their fans are generally pretty sound .. knew straight away from the away end kasey had been racially abused you could tell then the ref went to their manager basically confirmed it .. all clubs have twats, our didn't paint themselves in glory last week.

I hope Wednesday take appropriate action against the supporters responsible and some further tools on social media

Been in liverpool all day and only just caught the score. Great result and navigated an awkward fixture

The thing is, this is a very emotive subject, and people will have strong views, but no I clearly said it’s not the majority - however even their forum points to previous incidents so it’s clearly not a one off with this club…

The countless brain dead comments on social media also suggest that, although it was only a minority in the stadium, it is more widespread than that.

Either way, hopefully the police and authorities will look into it and deal appropriately…

Without calling it out however, and by brushing it away as ‘only being one person’ or ‘a small minority’ seems to suggest it’s ok because most of us are normal respectful human beings. In my opinion that’s not good enough and, as I’ve said, one person is one person too many.

I'm more interested in what got him riled in the first place.

Saw a tweet that a kid at the front of the Kop was shouting horrid abuse at him and his Dad was stood next to him allowing it.

See Jordan's post #929 in this thread, a page back.

Exactly right, we don't need to get heated about this as long as the relevant action is taken and the majority of the fan base are appalled.

It is, and that person deserves everything he gets - as does anyone pedalling the racist abuse. Doesn’t mean the whole fanbase are cunts does it

Not surprised, their fans are cunts, just as bad as united
I go into opposition forums a lot on match days, like others.
Only briefly looked at Shef Wed today, but on previous looks, them and M’boro come across the most balanced, decent & normal from my memory.
I’d hate for anyone to judge us based on our forum with constant WUM, threats of violence, court action……
I don’t want to judge Wednesday fans, based on Palmer’s abuse, just like I don’t want our fan base judged on any morons sticking banners over motorways. Difficult though….

Full disclosure: wasn’t at today’s game and don’t know the details yet (apart from at least one knuckle-dragging moron).

whilst I agree we don’t need to start arguing amongst ourselves, I think people absolutely do need to get heated because, if not, are we saying oh it’s ok as long as the people responsible get a slap on the wrist and a ban? it simply shouldn’t be happening, and just accepting it does is part of the problem…

I’m not sure anybody said that though did they?

What did Palmer get his yellow card for? Was it for defending himself against the racism?

I also think the officials need to be stricter with racism in games in general. Stop the game remove the players until the racists are removed from the ground.

I'm in a pub and was talking to some Wednesday fans. Blaming Palmer for trying to cause a riot and admitting they were making monkey noises.

Doesn't take much to cause a riot in Sheffield

agree with this 👍🏼 I also think clubs should be punished harsher for things like this - having a ten point deduction for example, and ensuring they are relegated in this case, will make far more of an example of these pricks than a slap on the wrist and a stadium ban

Surely that’d be nigh on impossible

I think you are misinterpreting what I'm saying which is throw the book at the morons but let's not suggest the whole club are racist and let's not add heat to a game next weekend that doesn't need it. We should be angry at racism you are absolutely right but why be angry at non racist Shef Wed fans.

Just got home, that was closer than it should have been!!!

They were nearly as bad as their pitch!

The worst accusation I've read about Kasey is that he told them to be quiet and *may* have said "you're going down". How on earth does that translate to causing a riot?

They made things tough for us in all honesty. As I said, it's not a game I enjoyed.

Great day. Away support was fantastic again. A big three points. Was a bit nervy at the end. Thought Thomas, Bidwell, Eccles and Godden were good with Sheaf MOM. Couldn’t see what Palmer got annoyed about but have read some of this thread which explains it. Shocking.

Today wasn't overly pretty but job done. Previously this would have been a banana skin but we looked a class above without coming out of second gear Are not a side anyone will look forward to playing
