Fired up Vik (1 Viewer)

I didn't think Vik had his best game yesterday, he was still very good but not at his best.
However I don't think I've seen him so fired up, his reaction to the goals seemed more intense than usual and his altercation with their guy right in front of us showed how much it means to him

Made it clear he loves the club yesterday.

He was unusually fired up yesterday.
I’m a massive fan of him but he was a tad fortunate not to get sent off yesterday. Don’t be surprised to receive a red card if you aim a kick at an opposing player in higher profile game.

Both players silly with that handbags wrestling and grabbing inviting the referee to do whatever, both needed a clip round the ear to be honest.

I said to my mate after the game when we were walking out Vic seemed well up for it today. It’s quite clear he loves it here. Let’s offer him a bumper contract and hope he’ll stay with us for a while 🤞

When Vik is on form and firing in goals, and when we have that stability at the back with McFadz marshalling everything, the rest just seems to fall into place. Hamer performs, and it’s usually a guaranteed victory.

Last week I was intimating at a potential slide down the table, which was entirely possible (isn’t it always), but the last two games have once again galvanised the team. We may not always do it in style, and we do get lucky sometimes, but when we perform as a unit, we’re a top 10 team all day long. PUSB. ⚽️

It was right in front of us - Vik kicked their 0ayer and was very fortunate not to be sent off

That said, we didn’t get the red card against Luton so evens out

Watching live I thought his goal was hit and hope as he was surrounded by four defenders. I later watched the goal cam from behind the goal and it was interesting to see exactly what the keeper was watching. He had to cover the obvious shot to his right post but Vic went the other side. Great finish under pressure.

From what robins has said he wants to keep him and build a promotion winning side around him, will king back him and sort a big contract out to make him stay?

I’m sure King will, might even be on the case as we speak, as last season there will be a wage budget hopefully a lot larger and Robins will spend it as he feels fit if that’s doubling any players wage that will be up to him.

There is an argument that once players are as good as vik they deserve an opportunity and wage we can’t afford on our turnover.

So you sell high and reinvest in potential and do it well

There’s no way we should be offering vik £30k a week we wouldn’t be able to afford it

So there’s no point whatsoever king buying the club if in fact he has, we just carry on the way we have been.

How much do we think he'll be on currently?
I read on Capology that his currently weekly wage wage was just shy of 3.5k per week. It says it's verified, so that suggests it's either been confirmed by the club/agent or 2+ sources...but take from that what you will. We all know how accurate some sources can be!

He's certainly deserving of being one of, if not our biggest earner. I'd much rather take the punt on offering him a new contract, with a release clause than have to start from scratch with someone new. He knows the style of play, he knows the club, the fans love him. Equally, if a bigger club came in for him, I would completely understand if he had the desire to go. My biggest bugbear would be if he moved, then he wasn't playing week in week out

I don’t see why we couldn’t afford it and there’s always an opportunity to sell at some point anyway

Offer him a new contract but promise him if a prem club are willing to pay 25mil+ we won't stand in his way
Obviously dependant on him trusting DK

We all know the rumour that Harry Kane was dealt with along this line but Levey then went back on his word

What figure? And really???

Well if he’s offered £25k a week it’s not a huge chunk - king surely will increase the wage bill so even a million increase could be used on him - he’s kept the club going almost single handedly it’s costing a lot more to replace him

I think we should break our wage structure on him .. on about this to my old man today weirdly , offer him 20-25k a week

Atleast we tried then

Also a huge bonus for promotion

25k a week is 1.3 million a season

Ok and if he gets injured

He's in the lowest third of earners at the club.. no sign of a new contract... what possible signs are there that he'll be here beyond August?

I'm desperate to be wrong, but celebrating with the fans when you've scored a goal isn't going to convince me. Stop thinking players 'love the club' it's a job, those days are gone. It's business.
