On the face of it seems odd not have loaned him out this season given there was clearly not a plan to play him. Dragging him all round the country to sit on the bench and not play seems strange.

We should extend his deal for 12 months send him off to league one until Christmas and if he's tearing the division up bring him back in January

The only thing that’s been torn up is his contract extension

He would do a good job for somebody like Peterborough he's definitely talented if he's over his injuries he should be a very good player in league one at the worst

That’s the issue and going to hold him back, clubs have no idea how good he is as he hasn’t played regular football for years

think we might regret this one

I doubt we will.

His only chance at having a successful career is for him to play elsewhere. If he stayed for another year he'd likely spend yet another year sitting on the sidelines waiting for a chance to feature consistently, an aspiration that probably wouldn't materialise.

For his own sake it's for the best that he moves on to find another club.

Indeed and them 10 minute sub appearances against tired players are vastly different to starting games…

I think there was something on twitter about the club taking up the year extension option, in the hope of getting a small fee

There isn’t a year extension it seems

Even if he did have an extension I doubt we would've triggered it anyway as what club in their right mind would pay a fee, regardless of how nominal, for a player who hasn't started a league game in well over four years and has since suffered three ACL injuries?

I wouldn't be all that surprised if he's forced to go on trial in order to find his next club.

We won’t. We’ve moved forward since 2017. Jones only showed consistent promise in League two.

the Level required has jumped massively since then. 3 cruciate ligament injuries is bound to affect his biggest asset- his pace.

I hope he does get to this level, but he needs a good few years showing he can do it at league one level first.

I don’t understand robins freezing him out

Hes physical and strong. Clearly keen to play and make an impact

He’s never been given a chance. He’s not full on 46 game a season championship level but would I rather see him some times than Shipley, Allen and Tavares - well yeah as he offers something

Genuinely don’t get it

Not hard really to work out why he was let go , he made this many appearances in 4 seasons , was always going to leave , the club rehabilitated him and hopefully he can revive his career elsewhere Screenshot_20220511-092824_Chrome.jpg

He also missed a large portion of this season through Injury .. after playing 22 games in 4 seasons

Then came back from that and played 2 matches as sub

He was on the bench for 30 games and other than Covid there was only one other minor injury

I think he had the ability to grow with the club and, if free of injury, might well be a key player now. That was not to be and he has lost those years of development. I think a fresh start somewhere else is for the best
