Not sure I 100% agree with that selection, but it doesn't look too bad already and a reasonable bench. With more additions to come I'm confident of a nice safe mid-table finish.

Interesting to see how much this changes as more signings come. But not a bad base to build upon.

Likewise, walker in for godden that would be my only change as I can't see godden being fit.

Hard to say without seeing Moore and Waghorn properly but the former has got to be better than Wilson. I’d probably go for Walker over Godden too, I just feel there is a lot to come from him.

Good job there's more to come because as it stands we'll be lucky to stay up.

And before the usual suspects say I'm moaning....

Yes Moore is an improvement on Marosi and Waghorn an Improvement on Baka.

But we haven't replaced Mccallum James or Osti.

Aswell as replacing them we need to incrementally improve on last season ( like we have with waggy and Moore)

But as it stands the squad would probably be in the shit. Good job there's more ins and outs to come

I agree to an extent. Early days with lots of signings to come, there is no real improvement in the first 11 overall, if not its a bit weaker without Osti, James, and McCallum.

We have no idea if Moore is better than Wilson, he simpley hasn't played enough games to prove either way, andhow much Wagorn is or isn't on the wane at 31 after a great championship career.

Best eleven: Intriguing question by my calculation talking outfield we have 23 players 8 defence, 10 midfield and 5 strikers I’m including Drysdale Bapaga and Reid in the squad don’t think I’ve forgotten anyone and I’ve not included outsiders like Mason, Kastaneer, Jobello or Hilsner.

Going to depend what formation Robins goes for, wing backs or a flat back four, assuming with our strike force he goes two up top and O’Hare starts it leaves questions re our midfield and we will add to that so some will leave we will probably add a left back a centre back and another midfielder on permanents then there’s the loan market as I said intriguing.
Of our current crop and I’m assuming we go wing backs I reckon everybody fit it would start
Moore

Dabo
Rose
Macfads
Hyam
Reid/DaCosta/Pask not sure at all there.

Hamer
O’Hare
Kelly

then any two from
Walker,Godden Waghorn or Gyokeres.

At least we should have a much stronger subs bench something we lacked last season and able to change tactics if needs be. Is it back to three subs per match or still five ?

His record in the Championship isn’t better. Hard to compare as most of Moore’s career has been at L1 and Wilson didn’t really play at all until the Championship.

Sheaf is better than Kelly? Its an opinion I guess.

Sheaf is significantly better than Kelly. It’s not even close. Kelly might be a better leader or whatever. But Sheaf is miles better at actual football.

As I said its an opinion. I would suggest that anybody who has watched Kelly over the past four years and has that opinion is mistaken.
Evidence 20/21 season, the invisible Sheaf or the influential points per game captain Kelly.
I would also state that I hope Sheaf can become a Coventry City great and trust the manager to get a tune out of the player.

Again you’re talking about “influence” and not actual footballing ability. Kelly was great in L1/2. Last season he looked out of his depth most games.

Stats are all in Sheafs favour pretty much. Played almost the same amount of minutes (Sheaf played 200 more). Sheaf passing is miles ahead of Kelly’s in success rate, his tackle success is slightly lower but he made about 50% more attempts in about the same minutes. He’s a lot younger as well.

I’ve nothing against Kelly. He’s been a great captain and dragged us up from L2. But you’ve got to be ruthless about ability and we will have to find leadership from elsewhere if we want to progress.

And Kelly’s PPG are entirely down to playing while Sheaf was injured during our last run of games where we had our strikers back and everyone in the team clearly stepped up a level. Sheaf played in the first half of the season while everyone players and managers were adapting.

4-5 loans will change that considerably

I wonder if we haven’t got someone we’re looking at for LWB and CB, we’ve had no rumours for either of those. Part of me thinks it’s going to be McCallum and Østigård. I’d like to see a GK and an AM in as well.

If we did that and sign Györkeres I’d be pretty happy with the squad:

GK/Wilson/Moore
Dabo/Dacosta
LWB/Reid
Rose/Pask
McFadz/Drysdale
CB/Hyam
Hamer/Eccles
Sheaf/Kelly
O’Hare/AM
Walker/Godden
Györkeres/Waghorn

With Burroughs, Bapaga, Nee, Tavares, Jones all possible breakthroughs.

In an ideal world I’d have another CB and LWB but we don’t have an unlimited budget.

Sheaf needs to learn to become what Kelly is. Sheaf is a better footballer, academy at arsenal will do that for you. But until he gets that experience and learns how to use his potential, that's all he will be.
