I actually saw a man walking around with that red one on the other week so I'm guessing they are just mocked up knock offs

Intriguing. Hummel don’t make a teamwear template that looks like either of these shirts, so I’m very interested in their origin. You might remember that last year a photo leaked of what was purported to be our new Hummel kit beforehand, was rubbished by the club (and slagged by the fans on here), but the actual design wasn’t far off it. My best guess is these are rejected prototypes that have made their way out somehow. The sponsor was probably just a placeholder rather than be sponsorless.

Bob Latchford was probably one. Sure it was him who did that and got a badge and ironed it on.
I wouldn't be surprised if you're right. Seems like a proto for an '87 design. Also on closer look of the home shirt design, they haven't even finished the stitching at the bottom around the waist area – also makes me think this was a proto. Maybe just one of many different directions we could have gone in very early in the process as the stitching is unfinished.
It might not be on their team wear template but it’s definitely a template they’ve been using for teams this season. I’ve definitely seen a few in that style (can’t remember who though).

I was pissed off at that game cos at half time Joe Elliot pushed in front of me in the queue for drinks at halftime...and anyone who saw that queue will also be angry for me.
