He got into a car with a guy who you have to believe he knew was over the limit and then didn't put on his seatbelt while the driver then raced his mate. He's no poor bugger.
If I were Derby I'd sack him tbh

All three of them though? Can’t sack Keogh and let the two (who have actually been charged with an offence) off, surely. Keogh’s ‘crime’ was getting into a car with a driver who had been drinking (with the aggravating factor of him being club-captain). The other two actually committed crimes (and got caught), and unless you’re the prime minister you usually pay for that.

How much will their value to the club affect their punishments?

It has also emerged that Keogh does not drive and it is understood he has never passed his test.

This seems the maddest bit

Madness, how has he conducted his career without being able to drive. Its not like he started out in the Prem on mega money. How did he get to training and stuff as a young player.

I have a couple of old school friends who haven't bothered to drive and it just seems a miserable existence. Might work in a big city I guess but still comes across a bit lame.

I'm mid-twenties and just learning to drive for the first time. Was fine when living in London but now I'm in the suburbs it's definitely a hindrance. Cannot imagine being his age and not being able to drive.

In places like London it's expensive and the public transport system can get you about more than adequately. It's more than possible to live without a car as long as either
a. you don't mind the extra time public transport takes
b. you can afford to get everywhere by taxi's etc.

Some people just don't like the idea of driving.David Mitchell can't drive apparently.

Not sure what Keogh's football background is in terms of academy but they can be pretty mollycoddled and they will send people to collect them for training etc.

There was a story a few years ago of an ex- player who soon after retiring needed to see a doctor and he turned up at his previous club asking to see the doctor. He had no idea how you had to register at a doctors or book an appointment. He'd spent his whole life up to that point just walking into his club and getting medical treatment and thought everyone got that at work.

Apparently after retiring, one of the Nevilles (I can't remember which) couldn't make a cup of coffee. Had no idea how to begin! I mean surely that can't be true and would have expected they'd made the odd cuppa at home before their career, but it's said had no idea at all. Even basic common sense would get you close!

Voicenote going around Twitter apparently of Bradley Dack (teammate of Bradley Johnson) describing what happened. Saying players had done balloons and sleeping tablets, Lawrence crashed into the back of Bennett's car which stopped at a junction, players got scared, jumped in Bennett's car and sped off to a house 5 mins away. Got there and realised they'd left Keogh who was KO'ed in the back of the other car after smashing his head and doing his knee. Players raced back to get him and police were there and the drivers got knicked.

What kind of bizarre, privileged life do these players lead...alcohol, sleeping tablets, 'balloons', then driving like Vettel (hence the crash), on public roads...jesus, they could have killed themselves, but more importantly, other innocent people.

Had a housemate at uni that couldn’t change a lightbulb because he’d never had to. It happens.

Similarly last year someone I know was complaining about their radiators rattling and not having a lot of warmth go through them so they needed to call a heating engineer. I asked if he'd bled the radiators and he looked at me like I was insane - never even heard of it before. He's in his 30's.

To be fair I think most people couldn't until recently. Only a couple of years ago I learnt you're not supposed to let the kettle boil because it brings out the bitter taste in coffee.

Exact same thing happened in my room at work just this week - 3 of them didn’t have a clue about it. One also had a cheque to pay in and didn’t understand what it was or what to do!

That’s because it’s archaic and hasn’t been a main form of payment for about 20 years

I don’t know how to bleed a radiator! Could google it pretty quickly though!

Knew a bloke in his forties/fifties whose wife left him , and he asked my mate how to cook a potato. I'm no Jamie Oliver, but this guy really had no clue as to how to go about tackling a spud - sad really.

Can also add my next door neighbour (whose wife had gone away on holiday) ringing our doorbell to ask how to cook his microwave meal.' Follow the instructions on the box' said I 'How do you use the microwave ?' said he - 'I might just put it in the oven' 'OK', said I -' up to you'. He then said, 'I know, I'll wait until your wife gets home and ask her' (which he did) !How my wife kept a straight face/didn't give him what for, when he wanted her to put it in the microwave for him and turn it on I'll never know. Bless him !!

If he didn't lift a finger to help, that's probably in part why she left him in the first place!

Couldn't he just walk to the chippy instead? :)

It honestly staggers me how many people there are who have no idea how to do the most basic things - be it cooking, DIY, turning a dishwasher/washing machine on. Especially given how, if you really haven't got a scooby, you can literally google it in about 30 seconds!

I lived in a shared house in Manchester when younger. One lad I lived with had never lived away from his (overprotective) mummy. Came into the sitting room one day and proclaimed the tin-opener didn’t work (just had no clue how to use it), came into my room and asked me to hold his (single) duvet cover while he put the duvet in (was fucking amazed when I shoved it in on my own in about 20 seconds whilst shaking my head and looking pityingly at him) and also went to work in his suit and slippers one day. Strange thing was we worked at a pharmaceutical manufacturing site where protective footwear was widely available, but he chose to leave his slippers on all day despite the entire plant ripping him to bits at lunchtime.

Some people are just idiots.

So why would Keogh be sacked for being in an accident!!!!!!!????? Bit bizarre

I’m not saying he should be sacked, but I’d never ever get in a car if the driver was drunk. Ever.
I don’t even drive after 1 pint. I’ve also been known to pull over until people put their seatbelt on. Get the piss taken out of me but don’t give a fuck.

They can take the piss out of you or pay with their life just because two seconds putting on a seatbelt is too much of a hardship.

Getting sick to death of behaviours behind the wheel: mobile phones, drugs, alcohol, no seatbelt. No excuse for any of it.

I was in traffic on the a46 yesterday and was next to a bloke who was using 2 mobile phones on his steering wheel. At the same time a woman was on her phone behind me and a bloke in front. We were moving, not stationary. I wouldn’t use my phone stationary. Dangerous driving annoys me when it’s just me in the car but I consider it an attempt on my sons life when he’s in it. Installed a dash cam this week as it’s just ridiculous.

Really pisses me off.

Coming up the M1 just before lunchtime today, around J14/15, Class 1 driver leaning his wrists on top of the wheel with both hands on his phone ffs. Bearing in mind it’s a 6 axle, if the trailer is full it can weigh up to 44 tonnes. In a car the risk is sickening enough, but that’s something else - not the first HGV I’ve caught either tbh. I’d have a guess it’s at least 3 in 5 drivers doing it.

Professional drivers caught using a mobile phone should get a 6 month ban £5000 fine. No awareness course, nothing.
