I was saying this to my son as we left the ground Saturday . in the 70's 80's 90's if you'd beaten a team as we did 3-0 or similar , you'd often hear the tune - Go home ya bums , go home ya bums , go home ya bums go home . why don't we hear these chants anymore ? it used to demoralise the opposition fans. there was plenty of gesticulation but , no good old fashioned demoralising chants .

I think the modern take on this is the notorious: 'You're fucking shit'.

After the match on Satdee, we crossed paths with some Notts fans going the opposite direction and some Cov lad shouted "you're going the wrong way!" then we had a chorus of "Going down, going down, going dooown"
Does that count? ^^

'When Bertie Mee said to Bill Shankly "Have you heard of the North Bank, Highbury"?
Shanks said "No, I don't think so but I've heard of the West end, aggro".'
'Da,da,da,da,da,da,da,da,da,da,da, (etc).... 'We are the West end, aggro'!

I liked one against I think Blackpool or someone: "What's it like to have a roof?"

I miss the player specific ones. We seem to do them less and less. We didn't even have a song for Thomas when he scored the winner at Wembley.
Agreed, I miss em too, but I think it's down to players not being at a club long enough to gain that sort of fan worship.

I remember going to Ayresome Park in the late 1980's - around the time of the 'Cleveland child abuse scandal'. Whilst it goes without saying it's not a subject matter worthy of humour, the following chant did raise a 'smirk', seeing as we were getting dogs loads of abuse from the natives on the other side of the fence. - "Where's yer children gone, where's yer children gone"?
The truth of the matter is they seemingly hadn't gone very far as I recall most of them were hurling stones at our coaches upon arrival and departure.

Yeah, and the one for Adam Armstrong was awful

In the shower Bob, I can be heard singing songs from the 60's 70's and 80's on a regular basis.
You are welcome to join in!
One that we don't hear anymore that I never liked but always was a favorite(choose your hatred)around the country was
"We hate Nottingham Forest, we hate Everton too(and Leicester) we hate Man united but City we love you, all together now........"
My particular tune that I belt out with gusto is "we all agree Glazier is better than Yashin, Gibbo is better than Eusebio and Wolves are in for a thrashing"
You should try it Bob? By the time I am clean and ready for the day I have had my dose of nostalgia and reality sets in that we are a division 4 side and I wouldn't recognise most of the players today if they joined me in the shower.

Crickey RSB! How old are you?? My grandad used to sing that in the 60's! Aye aye aye, Glazier is better than Yashin etc. And you got the words dead right! A great memory! He was a Sunderland fan, and my guess is that this is a really old song. You'll remember this one aimed at the original and 'real' enemy - 'we hate gold and we hate black, so f*** off Wolves and don't come back'. There's a certain innocence about these songs, eh?

Lilly the Pink..........sung in a packed pub with hundreds of Sky Blues used to take some beating !
There were a few blokes in front of us last season who every week would try and start it off. Only about 10-12 would join in. It made their day during the last game of the season where they tried it and it got going and 2-300 people joined in.
That's definitely one we should get going again this season but I guess that's a generational thing and fans under 20 won't get it.:emoji_disappointed:

I remember Liverpool fans trying to rub it in when they scored a fifth at Anfield. City fans left the ground singing the Football League is upside down. I remember the bemused Liverpool fans faces, how could we still be so up for supporting the Sky Blues. Anyway we had thrashed them at Highfield Road so honours even.

Lilly the Pink..........

I seem to remember hearing this on the Swan Lane Kop in the early 90's when I first started going as a kid.

Does anyone remember from a similar time, early 90's where the crowd used to chant

Again, I was very young at the time but I used to love that. Especially on an evening game I can imagine that could sound pretty intimidating to the away support. Don't know why that stopped but we should definitely bring that back.

There's something very similar to that which breaks out occasionally down at the Butts with Cov Rugger.
