I was there as Max Boyce would say, wife came too I had to tell her what was happening most of the time as she could only see half of the pitch. The said wife would not even cross the road to buy me a ticket now.(Great times)

as a lad of 13 the atmosphere was electric, and my mum would have killed me if she'd known how many were going to get in hahahaha

these 13 year olds of today will never experience anything like that, though hopefully Wembley will get somewhere close, obviously no sitting on the touchlines.

I was just 12 at the time, and this game, the 'Midlands game of the century', for me, just tops the F.A. Cup Final. Is that sacrilege? I was young, optimistic, I was a Cov kid, the best City in Britain (City of Skills and Opportunity - remember that?), a great football team etc etc.

I reckon the cup tie v Sunderland gate was even higher due to gates being crashed open - probably over 60,000

I was there as well, also the Sunderland Cup-Tie arguably a better atmosphere helped by being played at night. They were sitting along the roof of the stands that and some of the gates were broken down and hundreds were swept in,me included.

Regards.

That photo looks like from Sunderland game, not the official Wolves game of ground breaking record you state, not proud me and my mates started the fight in the West End all because my mate sat down on the terracing.

The Sunderland game was fantastic. I was there with my Sunderland supporting Grandad, he got carried away with the atmosphere and by the end of the game was shouting for City!

When will we see 3 games like this again? - 25 March '63 v Sunderland (5th round) 30 March v Man U (6th round - Charlton, Law and a team stuffed with internationals, they treated the FA Cup properly in those days!) 25 April v Wolves (MM of the C) Anyone who saw these 3 games was privileged - and very lucky!!

Was there for all 3 games, the Wolves game about 12 o'o'clock went looking for autographs at the Main Stand to find Wolves supporters queuing all the way down King Richards Street across Gosford Park towards Gulson Road an amazing sight. I would say there was a lot more than 51000 inside the ground had to be 15000 or more Wolves fans there as for that Sunderland game again unbelievable and without doubt more in than Wolves game for a start a wall was broken and hundreds got in without paying

Yes, an unforgettable childhood memory. I vividly remember Wolves scoring first, and their fans chanting “Champions” in their end of the ground. It confused me a bit, as I wasn’t used to us being behind! The later scenes when we scored, and at the end after we’d won, were incredible.

A fantastic and cherished memory of one of the best days in the clubs history; the crowd and atmosphere, the team fighting to get back on level terms and then going on to win and the belief that we were going to watch first division football the following season. Happy days.

one of the comments on Pathe news clip

There is more certainty of European honours to come for Coventry, than Britains Entry into the Common Market

I was there, sitting on the touchline. Started off standing on the Spion Kop terracing but as the ground started to fill up, a load of blokes just told me to get to the front and sit on the grass. They were probably more worried about me being crushed by the immense crowd rather than care if I saw the game or not! Fantastic memories!

It was a great time to be a Sky Blue, I have only a recollection of the game but was told by my brother a few years later that Wolves got in our end early and were then moved out when the Coventry fans attacked them.
I do remember the Millwall game when we won the league and how proud I was. As a young boy I thought that it was always going to be like this.
There was such a sense of optimism that you could almost touch it, just like you can touch the despondency nowadays.

I was there and I did an evening and morning paper round then. Of course, they got their papers late on Saturday evening but also on next morning as I had to glory in it and read all the Sunday newspaper reports on the way round.

I still have all clippings in the loft somewhere.

Great times! Great memories!
