Inflation innit, Lawyers have to keep up!Apologies if there's a thread already, but as an MP for Coventry South has there ever been an MP that campaigns for everything except within their jurisdiction?
Forget the Gaza campaign, she's now going on about the Bloody Sunday atrocity... a good 21 years before she was born...
Have the deaths ever been declared and proven as murders ?Apologies if there's a thread already, but as an MP for Coventry South has there ever been an MP that campaigns for everything except within their jurisdiction?

Yes. We had a decade long enquiry which declared that all the killings were unjustified as non of the victims were armed or posing a threat, it also rejected the initial claim that any protesters armed or that bombs of any description were thrown.Have the deaths ever been declared and proven as murders ?
Are you surprised? She's so mixed up. Raises the question about funding, but then says where is the justice for the people of Londonderry.
Basically it means she disagrees with the verdict and wanted a conviction and actually nothing to do with the funding. She wanted a scapegoat to appeal to her sense of justice. Not a great look when an MP is disagreeing with the British judicial process. tried and found innocent by a group of his peers.
Not at all, has history of being an IRA symapthiser but I was told on the other thread this was nothing to do with the IRA because ?British citizens were killed. It's a disgrace to the City she's supposed to represent which was bombed by them without warning. Are you surprised?
Would.Apologies if there's a thread already, but as an MP for Coventry South has there ever been an MP that campaigns for everything except within their jurisdiction?

So what figure would you deem appropriate? Apparrently double the normal, so £2m but who decides on that? If he'd not had those funds would he have been found guilty? Would that have been a miscarriage of justice? Would there have been an appeal that then cost even more money? He didn't get any personal gain from it, only cleared his name, so we shouldn't put a price on that justice. Greedy lawyers (on both sides) are the only ones who will have profited. The amount of money committed to the soldier's legal defence is staggering to me, and on the face of it it looks bad for the British government to commit these funds for someone who killed British (though they wouldn't identify as such) citizens. My gut feeling is that soldiers should never have been deployed for that role as something like that was inevitably going to happen.
That isn't Sultana's motive though, she knows her time is up in politics at the end of this Parliament and is trying to grab as much attention as possible, probably to get something lined up for when that time comes.
I don't really understand her point here. Is she for or against legal aid?Apologies if there's a thread already, but as an MP for Coventry South has there ever been an MP that campaigns for everything except within their jurisdiction?

It is right that Soldier F was put to trial.
It is right that anybody put on trial has access to legal representation.
I don't know the right answers on this one Rob, just as a layperson looking at it, it looks like a huge sum of money and if you were on the victims' families side of this, you'd just see the state spending millions to defend the person who killed your relative. So what figure would you deem appropriate? I've seen a few folks on here post about her being helpful and decent as an MP when people contacted her. I don't like the way she's gone about her business with Your Party but starting a thread to slate someone for giving a sh*t and scrutinising things that she's meant to is weird to me.

That she's meant to?
Let's be honest she's been playing at being an MP since Labour got in, and not very well. Its of course slightly ironic that her mentor was once arrested for protesting on behalf of the convicted murderer Patrick Magee and I would imagine there are plenty of relatives somewhat annoyed that those that blew up their families were granted early release
SameShe's my local MP and in terms of local constituency work I've found her to be excellent. Very quick to respond and actually prepared to act on your behalf.
Pretty visible in the community as well and certainly the only MP I've had knock on my door (on more than one occasion) when its not election time to see what issues in the area need addressing.
Your Party on the other hand is a complete fucking disaster. I think for many it hope exceeded expectation but the speed with which its descended into farce is probably quicker than even her biggest critics expected.
What have you conversed with her about (if you don't hopefully mind me prying) and what response did you expect or were given? Finally is this normal for you others as in have you spoken to your MP about other issues in the past? She's my local MP and in terms of local constituency work I've found her to be excellent. Mostly about my Dads care situation and issues with the NHS related to that. There was something else minor, I can't remember what it was now tbh, that was a council issue but after repeated attempts to contact my 3 local councillors and getting nowhere I fired an email to her office and despite it not being her responsibly it was sorted. What have you conversed with her about (if you don't hopefully mind me prying) and what response did you expect or were given? Genuinely interested and not taking the pee (for once) as I always wonder what sort of issues people go with when they have a 'surgery' as I couldn't think of anyone really that I'd trust or expect less from other than lip-service.
... and whilst we're on it ... what the fek do people talk to GP's about for so long too? I only go about once every three years and I'm in and out in about 2 minutes, yet when I'm sitting in the waiting area to be seen, some are in there for about 15 minutes or longer?!!

Sounds much better than I get from my MP tbf.Mostly about my Dads care situation and issues with the NHS related to that. The visibility in the local area is the big one for me. Can't recall ever seeing or hearing from my MP in the past except when it was time to vote so that's a big change.
Not really had much call to contact my MP in the past other than a couple of minor things. On both occasions (one a Conservative, one a Lib Dem - the one who got sacked for having an affair with a Russian spy!) they were completely useless.
Think a lot of MPs casework is pretty mundane stuff hence you never really hear about it.
Mine was Severn Trent issue with ratsWhat have you conversed with her about (if you don't hopefully mind me prying) and what response did you expect or were given? Finally is this normal for you others as in have you spoken to your MP about other issues in the past?
