The game last season where we battered whoever was our rivals at the top (Gillingham maybe?) and I felt a sense of both disbelief and genuine optimism for the first time in years.
There was a league cup game where Scott Dann equalised at the death too, I thought it was West Ham but reading Nick's post it's probably the Newcastle game he mentioned.
My memory's not what it was
that whole day was a magic day. tension just getting to the ground. emotional day.Gynn's equaliser against Leeds in the SF at Hillsborough. Had felt so sick up to that point as time was ticking away and I thought we had come so far only to fall at the final hurdle.
The level of tension on the terrace and then the relief was something I've not experienced before or since. Magical.
I thought we, the fans, should take ownership of this .
So what's your memory that stays with you most of all ? 1987 ? Beating Man U 2-0 at their place ? Promotion under Jimmy Hill ? Moldovan's goal at Villa ?
Mine is always an away game, when the city fans are in large numbers - The one I remember fondly is a 2-0 win against Wimbledon at Selhurst in the 1990's when the supporters invaded the pitch . I cannot recall city supporters ever being this loud and I remember having to stick my fingers in my ears as it was bloody painful. I remember David Burrows was absolutely outstanding. I remember Nuddy's second goal sending everyone absolutely wild. Even though all the other relegation rivals (Man City for one) won that day I couldn't have felt more proud. My hearing was never the same after that.
I was at that game. Hughes took his goals well but as we found out later was a piss head and he failed us as is usual. Expectations were high and the outcomes never got anywhere near. bugga ain't it. So it goes on and on.Stockport away in the first game in the championship. Huge away following, easy win, Lee Hughes looking class and a sense that we would piss the league. Oh dear.
It was 3-3away to Oldham

I'm not sure if many will remember or will stand out. But I remember winning 1-0 at Peterborough. 4,000 city fans packed into the terrace, were chasing the playoffs having just sold Leon Best.
Brilliant atmosphere that day

1000s of Leon best masksApart from the obvious.
5-4 v Norwich at HIghfield Road, I was only 9 but just remember it being a real roller coaster
Of a game, it had everything.
Thrashing the champions Everton on the last day of the season to stay up.
Beating Blackburn in the 5th round of the cup at the Ricoh 23000 crowd IIRC and a real
Terrific atmosphere, showed what the Ricoh could be like if we could sort our issues.
