I gotta tell you, that win for England last night was sweet as a nut! So for this week's Cooks Question, I wanna know what was the most satisfying sporting win you've witnessed? Doesn't have to be from Football, can be any sport. England winning the World Cup (for the older fans)? Coventry coming home to the Ricoh? (I class that as a victory for the fans and the city of Coventry). Lewis Hamilton's last corner title win in 2008? Let us know. This week, we have something a little special for our listeners. A guess the year competition with a VERY special prize. 2 FREE front row tickets to the Coventry Blaze vs Sheffield Steelers at the SkyDome 29th December. Its a late kick off so you'll have enough time to get from the Ricoh to town in plenty of time. If you can guess the year, phone the studio. The number and the clues will be read out on the show. The show kicks off at 10AM on Hillz FM 98.6 so tune in if you can

I'm gonna slightly sidestep the elephant in the room and say the 87 SEMI final. My dream was to watch my team at Wembley and it was fulfilled that day. And our long awaited equaliser was the closest I have ever come to a religious experience.

From an absolute sporting perspective it has to be England reclaiming the ashes under Michael Vaughan - what an awesome summer that was.

Have to agree with that felt like I had kicked every ball that day....

Then there was the Game against Tottenham last game of the season need that win to stay up.

What made it better was we really pissed the Sunderland fans off that day

For me it was Sat 25th April 1959, beat Watford at home 1 - 0 to gain promotion from the 4th Division. As a young lad that was the very first time the team I started supporting in 1947 had ever won anything.

I wasn't at the Spurs game but listened on the radio, the game was about 6 hours long.
But the semi against Leeds... Unbridled, pure, better than sex, joyous, undiluted, fucking kick ass pleasure! I was happy for the following 5 years on the back of it!

I was in the seats upstairs, the semi final was a better game but i stood on the kop half way down and needed a wee took me ages to get to the back to the toilets and then somehow found my dad through the crowd on the way back and that was only because we scored and loads of people fell over and i could climb over them quite scary as a twelve year old.

More recently my daughter winning her first (and hopefully only) boxing match in 2 rounds on Saturday night in the UWCB event at the Ricoh.

Winning the Ryder Cup first time in America alongside winning the Cup First time at Wembley, both in 87. However, on an entirely personal level and because my family were Boring Man Ooo fans I have to say stuffing them 2-0 back in 68 was pretty special.

When we played in Cardiff and we were down to 10 men inside 2 mins (Peter Clarke) and we won 1-0 with them missing a penalty and Shef scoring one for us... that was a moment to be proud.

The Ashes win in 2005 was far more satisfying than the Rugby WC win in 2003. Even more enjoyable as I was in Sydney for the 2nd test and sat in a bar full of Aussies at 3 in the morning when they lost by 2 runs.

And although it's not our team. If you were a Man City fan - they way they won the PL for the first time in the last minute was nothing short of amazing. It was pretty cool to watch as a neutral....

Totally on a personal level but as a Cov fan living in A small village in Northamptonshire I was very much on my own. One of my mates (Will was his name) was a Liverpool fan, one of the "cool" kids, I was probably 12ish at the time, anyway for his birthday about 10 of us (me being the only Cov fan) were took to Liverpool for "Cov away", we sat in the Kop, I remained silent for "You'll Never Walk" alone and then was in awe as we won 2-0, Whelan and Huckerby if I remember correctly, anyway the best was yet to come as when we left the ground "Cool Will" started balling like a 2 year old girl. It was brilliant, one of the best moments of my life and will live with me till the day I die.

The Ashes 2005 is a good call – in my mind the greatest sporting contest ever, spread over a whole summer. There are some smaller triumphs that stick out in my mind for whatever reason – Kris Akabusi bringing the baton home for Britain ahead of the USA in a 400m relay race against the USA in the 1991 World Championships had me leaping up and down like a total idiot. How about Cathy Freeman’s gold for the Aussies in the 2000 Olympics?

As for CCFC – obviously the quarter final, semi final & final in 87. The unbelievable win on Boxing Day against Spurs the same season. So many of the games in the sixties (thanks Dad), and all the Houdini relegation escapes in the 70s, 80s and 90s. But for some reason the best ever feeling was at Highfield Road against Chelsea in the late 90s - when Chelsea had to borrow some shirts from us, Strachan played a blinder at 40-ish, and the win pretty much ensured our survival. So to finally answer the OP I’ll say that’s my “most satisfying Sky Blues victory”.

top still is 87, followed by 87 semi, followed by Tottenham away in 97

1967: Coventry 3 Wolves 1 which made us second division champions over Wolves and promoted us to the top flight, where we stayed for 34 years. Still by far our biggest ever attendance 51,500.
