That's the passenger not him

Why would they release him on bail and then make an appeal? The police are thick as shit nowadays but not stupid

Poor lad and family. Heartbreaking. I drive a lot for work and see cunts like this driving like idiots daily. Turn the speed cameras back on would be a start.

The Planning Authority don't design roads mate. It's the Highways Authority.
This case is exceptional as the lunatic was way over the speed limit according to reports.
Many forward thinking urbanists recognise the benefits of making urban residential streets have a design speed of 20mph (as very few kids /adults die if hit at that speed) and it is easier for walking/cycle /public transport but main political parties are scared of the allegations of 'war on the motorist' bollox.
Kids being injured and losing lives on our roads will shockingly keep happening.
Such a devastating accident for the lad and his family.

So it was nothing to do with Coventry who decided to*f**k around on for instance Antsy rd parking road narrowing etc, when the alternative could/should have been to enforce the owners of said properties to use the rear entrance or alter their own frontages or if they wish alter their own frontages at their expense.
Another example of this is Dane road with after improvements cars are willy nilly parked at weird angles into the side, jutting all over the place,?

I don't know that particular road but slower speeds and sensible parking/driving would be best solution. In this devastatingly shocking case sounds like the cause was an idiot driving at crazy speed... not the design of the parking or the street. As I understand it the legal responsibility is on motorists is to drive sensibly according to circumstances and conditions of the place. Speed limits are maximum if conditions such as visibility and dry surfaces are very good. I'd suggest contacting Highways Team at CCC if you have concerns about Ansty Road and Dane Road. Richard Hall or Colin Stonehouse in Highways at CCC might be worth speaking too.

Having arguments about traffic calming measures and calling for people to be hung while a family of CCFC fans is in mourning for a twelve-year old. Really classy.

Dodgy parking granted, but there’s not really much wrong with Dane Rd. 20mph with mountainous humps in the road.

Few arguments I’m seeing is, although the poor kid can’t be blamed, kids (and adults!) can cross roads very insensibly. Think theres 3 sets of lights between Beake Ave and Lydgate Rd that aren’t used much by pedestrians.

It’s a bit callous in this case I think. Hurtling at breakneck speed I doubt the scummer could care less about stopping at crossings even if they are used.

I’m worried about how many still naively believe that even 50% of drivers adhere to basic regulations.

Come off it, 99.9% of drivers aren’t going to go at 80mph in a built up area.

It will be interesting to see if this arsehole was drugged up like the two travelling south on the north bound carriageway of the A46 who I just missed a head on collision with.

Interestingly, I wonder that too.

My was to your statement “’m worried about how many still naively believe that even 50% of drivers adhere to basic regulations.” Speed limits in built up areas are basic regulations, I’m genuinely not sure how I have misconstrued what you said / meant.

was sort of delving into the daftness of a woman suggesting that this specific kid could’ve avoided being hit by using a crossing. Ridiculous.

But there is a lot of junction skipping regardless, I was sort of getting at. Seems rife these days. People just don’t want to wait. It’s beside this thread, I know, but a big cause of similar accidents.

Tragic and senseless loss. There's no excuse to be travelling over the speed limit on a residential street, none. To then not even stop and admit what you've done....... It's sub-human. My thoughts are with his poor family.

Those calling for vigilante justice, it doesn't serve any purpose. If this twat is the kind of person who hits and runs then he won't care about a beating, it won't change him and if he ended up dead then that's just one more person with blood on their hands. Let him rot in a cell for a good long time with only his guilt for company.
