Fucking awful, poor lad, his friends who saw it and his family. Have seen a go fund me so will post it up.

Hope whoever was driving about like that, at that time in a busy area and then driving away is found and left in a room with the boys dad.

Awful. There’s a major issue with people driving like cunts in this city. Anyone living near the long straight roads in Cheylesmore will know people are doing 60-80 mph down roads like The Chesils all the time.

I heard about it last night & saw the early morning tweet from covgoals, then the messages in the c&wyl whatsapp groups to help out.

Horrible news & cannot fathom what the family is feeling.

I stumbled across a post by his brother last night on Facebook announcing it. Absolutely horrific and as a recent dad myself just can't imagine what they are going through.

I hope the scum that did it gets what they deserve.

Takes a real c**t to drive through a residential area at a speed that is guaranteed to kill

Can't knowingly do it and when it goes wrong claim it as some kind of accident

RIP to the poor lad, can we do anything special for him on the first home game of the season? I'm sure would have meant the world to him

Unfortunately some get behind the wheel and feel absolutely invincible. Things like this are exceptionally bad obviously, and bad driving has always been a thing. But attitudes on and around the roads are undeniably getting worse and worse.

Those in the car, the driver especially, will get what’s coming to them. I’ve no doubt.

From my house there's a senior school 500 metres away and a primary school 800 metres in the other direction.

The driving and parking in the morning is horrific. I've no idea how there hasn't been a serious accident or worse.

To make it even worse the worst offenders are often parents with their kids in the car.

I don’t understand what this is meant to say. Is it 38% increase in accidents? 12 more deaths?

You’d think so but I see people speeding in residential areas daily. Not 35, but 50, 60+ sometimes. This needs to be a wake up call.

Unfortunately it won't be.
Anyone going at those speeds in a residential area should have their car confiscated.

Agree and agree. Unfortunately these are not areas where there is any interest in having speed control measures.

I can't even imagine what the family are feeling right now.

It takes a moron to drive through and area like that at those sorts of speeds. It takes and absolute abhorrent evil twat to run away leaving a 12 year old fighting for their life.

I would want to get to them before the justice system to deal my own version of justice.

Absolutely horrific and can’t imagine what the family is going through.

Sadly it’s happened a few times and made me think back to Corey and Casper on Longfellow Road when the, thankfully dead, smack head Rob Brown mowed them down and killed them both before him and his Missus tried to get away.

Sadly not everyone does get caught in these situations as a lad got killed on Avon Street a few years back by a hit and run and no-one has ever been charged over it.

The fact they’ve then burnt out the car and the police are appealing for witnesses makes you think the car was robbed so let’s hope CCTV, Ring doorbells etc do their job and catch the murdering cunts on camera!

You should instantly lose your license if you’re caught going 15+ miles over the speed limit in residential areas. There is no excuse for it. Just pathetic boy racers trying to look cool.

Exactly the same set up on my road 20mph signs are always flashing slow down.

I love parking outside my house even though I have a drive slows them down.
I get home about 3.30 most days open my car door and take an age getting out, you should see the look on some of their faces.

Yes it is a shame hasn't even started living yet.
I hope they do the right thing and hand themselves in.
The Radford Road has average speed cameras so they will have pictures of the car no doubt it has been stolen.

I'm pretty sure the police have said they have the car now, but they haven't identified those in it, so you'd assume it was stolen.

Hopefully somebody who even knows any of them in the car will come forward

I understand the sentiment but the family won’t be helped by a family member going to prison for murder or abh or gbh

Has the family verified it is genuine? Sadly it's become pretty common for fundraisers that quickly appear after a tragedy to be a scam.

I get what you are saying Pete and I hope they have more control than I would have and I'm not a violent person in the slightest. I can't imagine ever feeling like justice has been truly done. If they had stopped and shown instant remorse I'd likely feel different.

There's no way this should be described as an accident. It's reckless driving with no regard for anyone's safety or life. It's murder, no other word for it.
