This is just a bit of fun and not to discuss the awards evening as that has it's own thread but more so interested who you would all chose for the awards.

Who should have won:
Player of the Year? (For me it's Rudoni)
Young player of the year? 23 and under (Thomas)
Most improved? (Torp under Lampard)
Best signing? (Dovin)
Best personality on behind the scenes (MVE/JDS)

I would have chosen under 23's for YPOTS but that would have left Dovin, Rafael, Bassette out of the first team only so had to push it to include the 23 year olds, which includes Thomas, Rudoni, and some others.

I've also tried to not give everything to one player (Rudoni) as he would fit in every category except most improved.

*Edit*
Goal of the season? (Pato)

I suppose Rudoni did improve massively under Lampard too......safe to say he could clean sweep the awards. But hey ho variety is the spice of life

Wilson is a great shout and I overlooked him. Kitching and Torp were neck and neck for me and Dovin got in there as I didn't want to use Rudoni more than once

Goal of the season is something I should have included too. Pato deffo the one for me. Other than that I would say bobby Thomas for the Stoke Goal but he already has my YPOTS

AHH I looked at ages at the start of last season which had them both as 23.

As a date for reference it's fine to be honest, it's more a perception thing for me really as I'd have them as contenders for player of the season and young player would be a separate category entirely but like you say it does limit the options for the latter quite a bit

Yeah the options would have been very sparse and would be a shoe in for Dovin but wanted him for my signing.

We have a young squad but not really young, they all seem to be mid to late twenties with the exceptions of Grimes Wilson Bidwell and Allen

Pure theatre would be Stoke H with the range of emotions felt. Sunderland H in the league was the most complete and comfortable performance I would agree. The heart wrench of conceding the second to stoke to only then go and grab a last minute winner....makes you love football.

Oxford away would be a shout for away performance

Most improved player, - I think JDS is in with a shout, he looked shot to pieces at one point, but came back into the side and ended up making the shirt his own.
Credit where it's due for turning things round.

Good shout. I just can't shake the feeling that it was more hit and hope as opposed to placed though

Personally think most improved should be a player who’s been here since the previous season.

I would tend to agree most seasons, only thing is I think this year we can split the season in two with Robins and Lampard eras.

Torp was here last year too which makes him fit your definition too though

Paterson’s goal (which I loved) came off his shin pad.

The Rooney overhead kick for United which is regularly in the top 10 all time goals scored in the Premier League also came off his shin pad

Grimes is a good shout. He solidified us. I know Dovin only played around half the games so I'm probably a bit throwing stones in a glass house here, but I almost ruled Grimes out as he was only here since January

Yeah, I don't think we realised how important Dovin was to the team until he was no longer available!
