My missus is a Yorkie mate, it`s like my second home, what type of food are you after ?

No trip to York is complete until you`ve been to Betty`s Tea Room ( afternoon tea is excellent ) and January is great time to go, as there`s very rarely a queue to get in.

I should be so lucky !

Lovely city, with some of the best boozers in the country, just a shame that the footy club moved from their old ground, which was around the corner from some great old skool boozers and probably the best curry house in York, to a soulless out of town site, which they share with the rugby club.

The Starr in the City, in the Museum Gardens is very nice and in a lovely location overlooking the river. ( It`s a spin off from the Michelin starred pub in Harome / N. Yorks )

If you`re looking for a good variety of places to eat with food from all over the world, there`s loads of little bistro type restaurants in a road called - Fossgate.

It`s the real Boho trendy part of York, with one of York`s most famous pubs - the Blue Bell, which is tiny, but beautiful inside and the beer / drinks are always good.

There`s also a very good Italian off the Shambles, called La Vecchia Scuola, a stones throw away from the Minster.

The interior of is just stunning ( it`s an old Georgian school, hence it`s name ) and with it being close to the Shambles, you`ve got a real choice of decent boozers and bars very near by.

Just in the three tuns waiting for the rain so abate. We saw a sushi place so may try that out of lunch after a spot of mini golf .

I will campaign for Italian, I like the sound of La Vecchia

You shouldn`t have to book, with it being the end of January, but I`d book anyway, as it can get busy.

I can highly recommend a bar around the corner in Stonegate - The House of Trembling Madness.

It sells beers, wines and spirits from all over the world and is a cracking bar too, full of character.

There`s a decent old pub called The Punch Bowl just down from The House of Trembling Madness, where the beer is always good and they have a fire in the back room too.

I've spent a day in York many, many years ago. Can't remember where we ate, but what a fabulous place! I'm not religious but enjoyed the visit to the Minster. Well worth a look. Have a great time!

Harrogate is the main outlet but a quick search online says there are also sites in York, Northallerton and Ilkley.
