Terry Skiverton, who has been in temporary charge of Yeovil since Gary Johnson's sacking in January, said: "It's probably the end of what we've been trying to do. "Now it's about pride. The players are fighting for their futures."

Hmmm ....... Yeovil are 9 points from safety with 8 games left to play. I sort of get why he would say that, but there are still 24 points at stake. That's an awful lot of points to play for. Think I would be a tad annoyed if a City manager said that we were almost certain to go down if we were in the same predicament.

What does everyone think?

Tough ask but I would still be believing we had a least a chance.

Mind games, takes the pressure off players and allows them to play with freedom, usually see an upturn in form with teams who are adrift in the last run in. I'd be annoyed but could go either way, they go on a run and get themselves back in the mix or the players say well the boss thinks we're down so what's the point

Yep, maybe.

I would certainly be very annoyed if I heard a Sky Blues manager say such a thing though.

Very strange comments. It makes you wonder what is going on at that club to suffer back to back relegations? They haven't even replaced Gary Johnson which is unbelievable seeing as though the caretaker has hardly been pulling up any trees. Their fans must be livid.

I think it's safe to say they are gone and Colchester may well join them. However there are teams such as Notts County, Crewe., Scunthorpe and even walsall dragged into the mixer now which relieves some of the pressure. If we focus on ourselves and continue in this rich vein of form, the thought of relegation will be a distant memory. Let's just hope we do the business today!

They are not just 9 points from safety ... they will need at least 15 points from their remaining 8 games.
That's not going to happen and I think Skivertons remarks are sensible.

Well with them 9 points adrift and 24 points to play for, I myself would not at all be happy to hear a City manager accepting relegation.

Thing is they're not being relegated just because of their last 8 games - they have quite consistently been in the zone most of the season. The past 10 games alone they have lost to Crewe, Walsall, Orient and Colchester and it seems obvious the moral is broken. His remarks are aimed at take away the pressure and hope the players will respond with a bit of courage. Could work for a game or two, but it will take a miracle to keep them up.

There is a similar gap between us and the play offs. Do you think Mowbray would come out and say we're in with a shout of getting there?

No, but by the same token he shouldn't say it is impossible, which is exactly what I am trying to say.

Points to play for means absolutely fuck all really. 24 points sounds amazing, but they've barely got more than that the entire season. He's right. They are down.
