Think this is interesting - I do expect Ipswich & Southampton to be up there at the end of the season. Boro overperforming slightly. Big surprises are Blues in 4th and Leicester down in 19th.
On a ppg basis Ipswich would be on 19.0 and 2nd in the table

We currently have the best xGA in the league, meaning we’ve conceded the fewest quality chances in the Championship. That’s very pleasing to see — and somewhat surprising, given that to the eye it sometimes feels like we’ve been a bit fortunate with the opposition’s opportunities. However, this stat suggests we haven’t actually been any luckier than other teams defensively.

I always think it's easy to forget that it's very rare a championship side won't have at least one or two decent chances Vs another it's such an open league. It's how you respond to the chances which at the moment is going well. Also why Rushworth deserves a lot of praise for not only stopping the shite half chances going in but a good proportion of the good chances too. That's the difference between a playoff side and chasing autos for me.

Which is why the early panic about conceding from set pieces was a bit OTT. V frustrating but generally low xG chances and its a problem that is fixable.
The red flag is when teams create chances from open play. We've conceded one goal from open play all season, which is slightly fortunate. Most of our conceded goals have been low xG chances which xA doesn't necessarily pick up on because the stat takes all chances into account. Blackburn, Leicester, Millwall are all games we kept clean sheets and probably should've conceded. Hats off to Rushworth!
