Blackburn's recent form demonstrating the same.

Our xG has ironically been a bit lower than the season average in recent weeks mind

It’s definitely felt like that would be the case since we’ve been utilising the new formation at least.

Which is why I want us to ditch 532 when wright and EMC are back.

Our underlying stats in a 433 under Lamps were godly.

Isn’t that case in point about xG stats though.

I mean we surely can’t ditch 5-3-2 at the minute even if we had all the players back as the only stat that matters is that we can’t stop winning. The big difference is we look so much better with 2 up top.

We do look better with 2 up top, but if that 2 includes Wright, we'll be better still.

Also taking Allen out and moving Rudoni to the middle and bringing EMC in as a left sided midfielder (rather than a winger) would probably improve us as well.

That would leave Torp/Sheaf/Eccles competing for the last midfield spot.
Who says we need another midfielder in the window?

No I think the point is expected stats generally correlate with actual performances in the long term, and our expected stats were better in a 433, so let’s use that.

I don’t think we look better in a 532 than 433.

We look more solid, certainly less exciting though!

i don’t think it’s the 532 that’s made us more solid, it’s stopping playing out from the back and through midfield. Last three were going long including from goal kicks. That and Dovin turning into Buffon that’s made the most difference IMO b

surely we’ve learned that EMC needs to play LW?

also at the minute Torp wouldn’t be ‘competing’ for the other midfield slot, it’s his to lose!

There is no way EMC fits into this current formation

Closest would be BTAs role I think but it’s not right at all for him.

I don't know why everyone is wanting to improve the stats by jumping to change position etc there are two stats that matter at the end of the match. The amount of goals we have scored and the amount of goals the opposition have scored everything else is history.
