My son previously had an XBOX 360 and now has an XBOX One S and must be on his 5th set of headphones as they keep breaking where they plug into the controller. We thought we had sorted it with the bluetooth headset for the 360 but that doesn't work on the One, thanks Microsoft. We have looked at getting him a Kinect but have been told because he has the XBOX One S he needs an adapter and these retail at around £30. Is this adapter just a wire to connect the Kinect to the XBOX One? How good is the Kinect, obviously it has a lot more functionality than just a headset and hopefully it improves the whole gaming experience. I have never played on either of his XBOX's so try not to get too technical!!!
If your wanting to talk to friends, the Kinect isn't really ideal as it plays the voices over the game sound on the tv, so it's hard to hear what's being said and it picks up sound from who ever else is in the room.

OK, thanks for that. The Kinect doesn't seem to be the answer then. They do a controller which has a 3.5mm jack to connect the headset to, but of course we don't have one of those. Looks like we'll have to find some decent headphones but the problem is that they all seem to break at the same point and even the more expensive ones have the same connection

Ok, I'll have a look. I have found an XBOX one headset adapter which I reckon will get over the wire breaking issue, it's just a case of finding a headset my son likes. With your headset does the noise from the game come through it or still on the tv?
