Stephen Pressley comments before yesterdays Orient game about these games are normally about playing kids, and the trying out the rest of the squad and then said tongue in cheek 'but they are already playing' does not impress me as you have five senior players 'bomb squad' training at Broad street on the payroll who certainly would have made a difference last night
The writing was on the wall after Saturday at Crawley, particularly in defence now shipping six goals in two games and only for Joe Murphy could have been a lot more and playing three right backs. What do you expect?
Orient made 3 or 4 changes for last night's game after walloping Carlisle for 5 on Saturday so let us get real if they had played the team that they had played at Carlisle on Saturday it may have been a much worse outcome. If you do not make changes in defence immediately we are in for a tanking off someone soon, and although it's always kind words 'proud of them' 'they will learn' after every game, we do not have not a hope in hell of climbing the league
Mr. Pressley you certainly have an ability with young players but if you do not get a grip and blend these young players with some experience, they will soon lose their way, and confidence will soon evaporate and before you blame anyone else you sat down with your colleagues and decided this is the way you wanted it and pushed eight experienced players into the side lines instead of keeping them with the group and ditching them when you had adequate replacements.

Macca, Edge, Malaga, Jennings. Can't remember who else. For me we should be using Edge and have Malaga as backup.

the kids of the early 80's had experience along side them with the like of Steve Hunt, Gerry Daly, Gerry Francis. and Harry Roberts.
we need a good head in there at the back

Completely agree we need more experiance in the team I think personally sp has been given assurances that the embargo would of been lifted a while ago and he could draft in his own players in the much needed positions . The problem once you've alienated certain players from the team at the most part for the right reason it's not only their fitness you have to take into consideration but also their mentality . Can't help but think that if sp had prior knowledge of the real embargo situation a couple of these players would of still be temperarely figuring in the squad for me the blame probably lies further up again

But also they were a better standard of youngster, Thompson,Hateley both knew where the net was, Thomas and Dyson were both capable of marking top players out of the game.

yeh i agree but its not gonna be an issue forever,its not something we should be judging pressley for long term .

i dont agree with pressley not using edge but i am sure he will sign soemone before sep 2 and overall the team looks v good under him

I hope you are right. I thought Edge was ok last year. Not the worlds best defender but this is league 1.

If rumours of Webster are true that would be an excellent signing at this level. Can't see he would fit our wage budget though.

Where are the posts saying Pressley is shit just because of the bomb squad?

He really does deserve massive criticism for it, especially while it continues. It's quite possible without the bomb squad decision we'd had a decent start to the season. You know that yourself yet continue to defend it and him.

i have said a million times he should use the CB's(edge,malaga), but i have no issue with res tof bombp squad being alienated till they leave,they offer us nothing.

You've said he should use them but are defending him and the policy that prevents him from doing so which seems very contrary. You also don't seem to realise that you support using the centre backs because we are weak there but we could very easily end up in a similar position in other positions due to injuries, suspensions or perhaps even sales, if this happens we'll want some of the others too. We've already probably lost baker for 3 games and we are only 2 matches into the season.

You complain he is unfairly criticised because of a weakened squad yet the bomb squad is a big part of the reason the squad is so weak.

and as for making stuff up, I ask you again where are the posts saying pressley is shit just because of the bomb squad. You are quite happy criticizing people for things they didn't say.

i said whilst i agree with bomb squad in principle i do disagree with not using the CB's. i can see why pressley doesnt think its worth brining them back for 3-4 weeks too. as for other positions i love the fact that academy kids are getting a chance over likes of mcsheffrey, Jennings etc

my point is that the bomb squad is 1 issue, its been discussed, to not look at the good pressley has done and only focus on centreback situation is a bit silly imo thats all

How many games has he won since being manager. Even when he did have the bomb squad at his disposal.

On the bomb squad- They are all being paid, unless I am badly mistaken. Why not use them? We have a better chance of them moving on if they are in the shop window, don't we?

If there was no bomb squad he wouldn't have to bring them back for 3 or 4 weeks would he? they would be there and fit to be used when needed, are you happy for more academy kids that Pressley thinks are less ready to play though when we get more injuries and suspensions? Whats your view on the bomb squad going to be if we never come out of embargo? it will look even more stupid then than it does now.

I don't see that Pressley has done much good to focus on, hasn't really had the chance either to be fair but our record under him is terrible, he doesn't seem to watch the same match as anyone else, hasn't signed any players for us to praise him for (not his fault) has made terrible decisions regarding the bomb squad, has believed Tim Fishers lies regarding when we'd be able to sign players even though it had been in the paper that it would be impossible to do so when he expected too.

Alot of the bad stuff isn't his fault, perhaps not even the bomb squad, but he hasn't done anything praise worthy that I can see. So criticising him for not playing center backs that we desperately need while we ship 6 goals in 2 games is completely fair and justified and there certainly isn't more good than bad.

bar edge we are not missing any of them

hugh you talk about wins but need to realise these 2 games now are the ones with a pre season, where we have had time to take in his tactics,and so far we have played well and been unlcuky to lose twice even though we have academy kids playing.

yes using edge may have stopped us from losing but in the big picture he is not gonna be missed,im sure pressley will bring in a CB or two soon

now we are having good possesion and making lots more goal scoring chances from the sounds of it too, we also have got heart which is key

hes a forward thinking manager and i guess its gonna take time to win cov fans over,but he will get there.

No they are gone sit their contracts out like I said already macca was offered 6 months of his contract paid to go he could easy find a tea at this level or lower but he won't find the wage he's on reintroduce them to the squad and they will coast the contract out and proberbly unsettle the rest

The BIG picture is we need to win games and that means using any and all means at our disposal. If they are being paid why waste them. If you are made redundant you would normally get a months notice, which also includes being able to go for interviews. the best interviews these players can do is show other clubs what they can do on the pitch. they are being denied this opportunity. I firmly believe this is NOT SP choice he is being made to freeze these players out by our owners. I also back their stance of " you treat us like shit, we will take you for every penny we can get" just as most of us would any employer who treated us this way.

PS we may be making goal scoring chances but we are leaking like a sieve. As I am sure you are aware, you can not win games if your opponents score more goals than you.

Also you did not answer my question of how many games has he won since being manager?

as i said im looking mainly at this season as last season he had about 5 games,most of which the season was ended because of admin and he used them to play fringe players and workout who he needed for this season

yes were are conceding too many,yes we should use edge

but its 1 mistake, thats whilst pissing us off right now is not gonna effect us long term.

old fasioned fans want victory by any means neccessary,i get that, but pressley is educated, hes implenting a style that will benefit us for years to come, this is only the start and so far i am very encouraged

for those who go to games jsut for a day out and a pint it might take time to warm to him,for educated die hard fans who watch football from all over the world 247, well they will be excited by him.

time will tell,im not saying its 100% hes the messia,i am jsut happy with him and wont let his cb failure make me write him off or ignore all the good things i have seen/heard.

hope that sums everything up from my side of it all.
