He’s usually not a starter for the US team but a backup from the bench. Maybe that’s how we should use him if we don’t end up selling him. So much potential, but no desire at times. What a waste. The end of season form has surely smashed his chance of a USA call up
Is the way we played against Sunderland an accurate reflection of our system? Or is it just the way Sunderland forced us to play?I don’t think he enjoys this system tbh. He doesn’t want to cross or head and wants to be given the ball to run at the back line but we don’t do that. Simms is similar. Not an excuse for their attitudes, but if I wasn’t Dion Dublin I’m not sure I’d like to be a striker in this system.
He had space and time on many occasions and chose wrong option ALL the time. Did fuck all, sorry. He’s been disappointing and especially in the playoff games but think some of the criticism is a bit emotional based. He’s not suited to the physical battles with centre backs and a lot of teams exploit that. When he has space to run he’s dangerous.
"it's not his fault"We lost and it’s shit but it’s not his fault.
Yeah, yeah…like I say, people have been lauding his abilities for ages. He’s always looked best on the wing for me."it's not his fault"
Don't know if you are one but plenty on here call players out when they make mistakes.Pages knocking our keepers , midfield and defenders doing their job and yet he just saunters about marking no one, only interested if the ball is played to his feet. Effort he doesn't know the meaning of the word.
It's a team game and if you have a workshy player like him in you team mistake are always going to happen .
As for selling him don't think you'd get 1 million for him waste of space IMHO.

No I agree, it’s not his fault. Win and lose as a team.Yeah, it looked like the chance was Wright’s there.
He hasn’t been good of late but as others have said, he’s been regarded as our best player by many for a while now, and I’m sure if he stays he will be again.
We lost and it’s shit but it’s not his fault.
Godden from 4 years ago maybe, but he was well off the pace in his last 2 seasons at Cov. + He's a fox in the box, and even prime Matty Godden would of struggled at CF last night. No I agree, it’s not his fault. Win and lose as a team.
What I would say in hindsight is that with a half competent striker last night, let’s say Godden, I think we win and the mood is very different.
I’ve never been Wright’s biggest fan, for me blows hot and cold, and it’s the latter most of the time.
It’s obviously all hypothetical now and whilst I agree there are some elements of last night Godden would have struggled, he always had a knack of being in the right place at the right time. He’s got 18 goals again this season which shows he still knows his way to goal.Godden from 4 years ago maybe, but he was well off the pace in his last 2 seasons at Cov. + He's a fox in the box, and even prime Matty Godden would of struggled at CF last night.
Not sure what the answer is to be honest. We have 4 strikers with different attributes, but none have impressed in that CF role consistently.
Golden doesn't have the pace for the Championship , you could tell in his last season with us.It’s obviously all hypothetical now and whilst I agree there are some elements of last night Godden would have struggled, he always had a knack of being in the right place at the right time. I think you are bang on in the sense that none of our current strikers have offered enough this season consistently which is why I think there needs to be change.
not just over the 2 legs he was awful against Boro, he lost the ball and then just ambled back like it was pre season friendly and not 0-0 and basically a decider to get into the playoffs.I'd rather keep Asante, at least he tries.
Wright's performances over the 2 legs have been a disgrace
OooofEvidently one or 2 told him what they thought of his recent performances post game last night
Good
@Saddlebrains he hasn’t been carrying an injury or anything has he? He’s been so laboured it’s embarrassing/ can’t stand up a passenger.Evidently one or 2 told him what they thought of his recent performances post game last night

glad he got told, some of those boys last night were heroic and put in thier best ever games - special shout out for JDS what a turnaround.
I’m taking this with the usual pillar of salt, but assuming this is true and the “few” who spoke to him weren’t no-marks like Sky Blue Sam or Richard Overson, then surely there’s no way back for him from that.Im not talking a punch up and fists thrown, but he was told by a few that his performances when everyone else has worked their arse off are not acceptable at this club
To be fair to him on that, wasn't that because he was coming back from offside and so couldn't have done it himself? May have been a different instance.I'm done with him
And at one point he actually had the gall to shout at sakamoto for not running to a player. I actually couldn't beleive that
He had a great chance to run at O'Nein towards the end (I think) of normal time from centre-left and absolutely flapped it.I don’t think he enjoys this system tbh. Yep really disappointing for our “gun” player.Nope, hes been fine, its purely a case of not mentally or physically being up for it enough
Hence why some words were exchanged last night
Im not talking a punch up and fists thrown, but he was told by a few that his performances when everyone else has worked their arse off are not acceptable at this club
Could be nail in the coffin, could make him sort his shit out
He was awful last night no doubt about it and I'm glad he was called out in the dressing room. This is the one piece of play that really didn't make any sense to me. In a 2 horse race with O'Nein surely he's got to be the winner. I've never bought the idea that a player doesn't try so there must be a big underlying issue with him. Frank obviously loves him, the fans love him (until recently) so where has it all gone wrong. Maybe it's just the end of the road here and it's time to say goodbye. At his best somebody will take the risk on him or maybe he moves back overseas. It just doesn't add up and whatever the problem, it's such a shameHe had a great chance to run at O'Nein towards the end (I think) of normal time from centre-left and absolutely flapped it.
Yeah fair enough mate, but it was more the aggressive way he shouted at him that I took exception to really, after he had been strolling around all game.To be fair to him on that, wasn't that because he was coming back from offside and so couldn't have done it himself? May have been a different instance.
