Wright's getting pelters on here tonight, but remember this, we tried him at CF before and it didn't work, he was very poor, so we pushed him out on the left and he had some success.

The fact that he was chosen ahead of Simms and BTA shows just how shit our striking options are.

If you want to have a go at any fucker, have a pop at Simms who's been shit all season, he's the reason why Wright was played out of position tonight.

If we could off load anyone it would definitely be Simms for me.

That dive he did (which mirrored Isodor) tonight was embarrassing, should have been booked for it.

Found myself watching all of Gyokeres’ goals for us on Youtube earlier today. Fucking pains me to see us having gone from him to Wright.

Forget footballing ability, even in just aura and vibes, Wright just doesnt cut it for me, he’s supposed to be an international for a fairly decent nation, scored bags of goals in his career and cost £11million. WHERE is he?!

I think its getting to the point where we just need to freshen things up with the forward line.

Depending on how much we could get with him I'd consider our options.

Honestly? Both.
Completely agree that the Simms “maybe we can develop him” investment gamble hasnt paid off, time for him to be moved on.

But the common thread between them both is the complete lack of any character. Both of them have nothing about them.
On their best day, Wright is clearly the better overall forward, but their best days are way way too few and far between

Letting yourself be bullied by a man half your size who's your opponent's weak link is a very strange way to try to win a move.

When he's on it, he can be unplayable, but if it's not going his way, he loses heart and fight. At this point, I do not know if the good outweighs the bad. Do you bring in a less talented player that you never end up carrying?

Leeds (granted they are a parachute team and have a lot of dosh to spend) lost a lot of attacking players and rebuilt their team in many areas. We need to explore the option of either offloading Wright and/or Simms, both of whom I think have regressed tremendously this season compared to last. Find suitable replacements. At least BTA has some grit and tenacity that I don't see at all with Wright and Simms. That's a quality Vik had and then once his shooting and skill improved, he was a total monster.

Also loan out Bassette to a league 1 team with an option of recalling him.

Thanks Christ for the likes of Rodoni and Torp because our strikers have stopped scoring.

Has had a poor end to the season, we know he is better than that but really is this the kind of luxury player we need to try and get our of this division, our front line needs a rework in the summer

The header in the 92nd minute sums his recent form up

I'd rather have a player whos a 7/10 every game than a player whos a 9/10 one game every 5.

We need consistency to maintain a push and stop being such a streaky team.

Dreadful strategy if so. Glaringly dreadful after about 30 mins in in both games

I would argue that and say Sheaf was our best player before his injury.

I'd have a striker sale like one of those street sales you see.
Just leave all our attackers outside Ryton on an old pasting table with an empty biscuit tin on it and see if any one will throw in a few quid and take one of them.

That Plymouth rating is massively inflated by scoring a tap in. Abysmal that day too.

Can argue all day about how good he might be but if his heart isn't in it in terms of CCFC then its pointless. I've struggled to take to him and Simms from the off tbh

For a player with his abilty to perform like that in a massive game, he should be ashamed to look the likes of Sakamoto and Grimes in the eye.

Defended him a lot this season and called him a big game player but he made me look a twat for doing so last two. Utterly pathetic performance all round. He scores goals but I’m so sick of him.

Problem is I don’t think he’s a through the middle striker. He gets goals but he doesn’t have that instinct about him. If you want a promotion squad you commit by and large to having him and EMC left with a genuine striker through the middle.

We don’t expect Maradona at Coventry, but we do expect you to put a shift in everytime you play. That’s non negotiable. Absolutely shocking 2 performances they were from Wright, he couldn’t give toss it looked. Everyone else left it all out there.

He’s played as a 9 his entire career. If it hasn’t clicked for him yet then it never will.

For me this was hugely evident last night when the ball drops in the six yard box (Rudi I think tried the overhead kick) during an attempt on goal and Wright is backing away from the ball and not getting in for an easy tap in.

I don’t think he enjoys this system tbh. He doesn’t want to cross or head and wants to be given the ball to run at the back line but we don’t do that. Simms is similar. Not an excuse for their attitudes, but if I wasn’t Dion Dublin I’m not sure I’d like to be a striker in this system.

Wright has got to go, not been consistent enough for a player we paid circa £7.5m for

Who would want him at that figure though? Doubt we would get more than £5m for him

Emotions are pretty raw but his performances over the past two years have generally been good. You don’t want to sell someone with his track record without being able to maximise your profits in the process, so I wouldn’t look to sell him unless there’s someone very keen to buy.

Yeah, it looked like the chance was Wright’s there.
He hasn’t been good of late but as others have said, he’s been regarded as our best player by many for a while now, and I’m sure if he stays he will be again.
We lost and it’s shit but it’s not his fault.

As I put in the match thread, he's capable of getting a goal out of nothing but he's not been consistent enough since he came back from injury. He's reverted to the underwhelming performances of the first few months with us, which is a concern. I don't think he's uninterested or lazy, but I do think his confidence is low and that's showing. But of the forward options we have, even off form he's probably the best choice if we want the chance of a goal in a big game, and that's a bigger concern to me - we need more goal threat in our backups who can step in when he's injured or off form.

I agree. They both like the ball played down the sides to run on to, but over the two legs Wright barely had anything like that, I guess because most of the time Sunderland were packing their half.

Best ball he got was from Eccles a few seconds after he came on, and even then Haji made a complete mess of it. I love watching the guy when he's on it, but there's no escaping the fact that he was hopeless for nearly 4 hours in this tie.

Still got the image of him jumping about 10 feet in the air away from the ball when a defender went to tackle him the other week.

He hid about 4 times last night, literally ran the other way or hid behind one of their players.
