Honestly? Both.Wright's getting pelters on here tonight, but remember this, we tried him at CF before and it didn't work, he was very poor, so we pushed him out on the left and he had some success.
The fact that he was chosen ahead of Simms and BTA shows just how shit our striking options are.
If you want to have a go at any fucker, have a pop at Simma who's been shit all season, he's the reason why Wright was played out of position tonight.
If we could off load anyone it would definitely be Simms for me.
Letting yourself be bullied by a man half your size who's your opponent's weak link is a very strange way to try to win a move.I personally think he's playing out for a move.
I'd rather have a player whos a 7/10 every game than a player whos a 9/10 one game every 5.Has had a poor end to the season, we know he is better than that but really is this the kind of luxury player we need to try and get our of this division, our front line needs a rework in the summer
Dreadful strategy if so. Glaringly dreadful after about 30 mins in in both gamesI think FL was banking on pens, the only reason I can think of keeping him on. He really needed taking off.
I would argue that and say Sheaf was our best player before his injury. Our best player before his injury
That Plymouth rating is massively inflated by scoring a tap in. Abysmal that day too.State of this
What about the strikers though?I'd have a striker sale like one of those street sales you see.
Just leave all our attackers outside Ryton on an old pasting table with an empty biscuit tin on it and see if any one will throw in a few quid and take one of them.
He’s played as a 9 his entire career. If it hasn’t clicked for him yet then it never will.Problem is I don’t think he’s a through the middle striker. He gets goals but he doesn’t have that instinct about him. If you want a promotion squad you commit by and large to having him and EMC left with a genuine striker through the middle.
For me this was hugely evident last night when the ball drops in the six yard box (Rudi I think tried the overhead kick) during an attempt on goal and Wright is backing away from the ball and not getting in for an easy tap in.Problem is I don’t think he’s a through the middle striker. Yeah, it looked like the chance was Wright’s there. For me this was hugely evident last night when the ball drops in the six yard box (Rudi I think tried the overhead kick) during an attempt on goal and Wright is backing away from the ball and not getting in for an easy tap in.
I agree. They both like the ball played down the sides to run on to, but over the two legs Wright barely had anything like that, I guess because most of the time Sunderland were packing their half.I don’t think he enjoys this system tbh. He doesn’t want to cross or head and wants to be given the ball to run at the back line but we don’t do that. Simms is similar.
