They haven't sent him home which likely means there is still a chance he will be available for the final stages of the CONCAF cup. Probably better for city he takes little part in it and gets a full pre season in.

From US team:

TEAM NEWS: Haji Wright is dealing with an Achilles issue that will not be resolved in time for him to continue competing in the tournament.

He will return to Coventry City for further evaluation and treatment

No Achilles one of the worst injuries, being honest. Even strain/tendinitis can take months not weeks.

guessing that’s what he’s done/got issue with. Hopefully rest/treatment sorts swiftly.

So it's possible that he may have been playing with an injury/niggle during the last few weeks of the season, if he had the issue when meeting up with the US squad.

It’s not ideal but it doesn’t sound like it’s disastrous.

Hopefully be back in and around start of season

Why the fuck was he playing over the summer then. Potentially explains the end of season lack of form but surely if you have a niggling injury you're maximising rest over the summer.

He wouldn't be the first player to go into a tournament with an injury.

Haji would have been better to have rested it over the summer, now our prospects are spoiled by those USA ambitions.

I am guessing Haji will have to sit out much of pre season and won't feature much if at all in our first month of Championship matches.

Probably because he wants to cement his place in the USMNT ahead of the World Cup

Totally correct. He went to join the team because he didn't want to reject their call, but he possibly had no intention to play because of his injury, but he wanted them to see it. Now he is back home and resting which is what he needs. It's not a new injury and he will possibly be ready in a few months time. This is obviously why he has not been firing on all cylinders. Give him, Simms, Norman, Asante and some of the youngster a preseason under FL and his team and you see them purr. I'm not like most people on here, I do not think we need wholesale changes, just add one or two. We have a top 6 team who will get better and having everyone fully fit will be a great stating point.

Haji in Portugal. Seems the injury isn't a major concern. He wouldn't be there if he couldnt train.

Excellent news. He’s a proper player on his day and if he has any chance of starting at the World Cup, he needs to have his best year yet!

They played together up front against Luton last season, and were both unplayable.

Tbf a picture of him in Portugal doesn't mean he's resumed full training - guess we won't find out until the pre-season game report

You're right there's no guarentee he's in "full" training. However, it would be pointless him being there if he wasn't really. Light rehab stuff would be done back home.
