He needs to be kept…. We know he will bring 20 goals if his head is in the right space… so surely it’s about concentrating on that rather than selling and hoping the next striker can deliver.

For Simms he is young enough to coach and develop… so why wouldn’t we?

At 24 I wouldn't really say he's that young. He should be putting in consistent performances by now.

There’s a lot of skewed views on wright because of the last 2 games, when we needed our gun player - and rightly so btw.

his performances where a disgrace. Chuck in the big moment also.

however, injury free id still back him to get 20 goals next year.

but as others have said, he’s at the height of his sell on now, so bit on a conundrum. Problem is who do you replace him with there are no guarantees.

we also have to sell one of the assets this summer to give FL freedom to shape the squad further, think anything in the £15m mark has to be seriously considered (and yes we would easily command that fee)

Agree with KSB on Simms the guy has had something like 7 season in pro. football and still can't do some of the basics like trap a ball you need that simple skill to have any chance in the championship.
Wright needs to realise that football is a team game and without the other 10 on the field he would not get those goals workrate needs to improve.
As for possibly moving both him and Wright on if you were possible buyers would you think it worth paying out what we would be asking for against other possible signing you might make.

That is the problem I see it with Wright
His age is against him/us for keeping and selling on next year (unless he has a great season/World Cup)
On the flip side, he will score us 20 goals, he was unfortunate with the injury and length of time he was out
I don't envy FL choice on whether he stays or go's

Anyone would think the opposition has no defence reading some of this! Our strikers just queue up to score and if they miss they're shit. I don't remember anyone said that Vik was shit when McNair kept him quiet in '23. I do remember a lot of people calling Godden shit - be careful what you wish for!

Wilson has had too many and is prone to many more injuries. They've taken their toll on him as a player too and the pace and acceleration he had has diminished. No way imo.

Armstrong isn't the right fit either so that's a no.

Don’t think Armstrong suits what we need. Would personally sell Wright and Simms. BTA I think offers something different especially from the bench and Bassette will continue to develop.

On Wilson, it would 100% depend on wages but wouldn’t want him leading the line. Would be a very expensive bench option.

Said it on here 100 times but would look at Salech from Cardiff as the big striker signing and then look towards a back up option as well as a left winger to back up EMC

Who is replacing the goals Wright scores if we sell him? Who replaces Simms? There’s no need to rip up the entire strike force

Okay, so under Lampard Haji Wright has scored four goals (three in one match), Simms has scored five goals and BTA has scored three goals.

Salech has scored 8 in 20 games since joining in January (in a relegation side). My hope would be Salech would replace the goals here as the traditional target forward (has the highest headed shots per 90 in the league, 6ft 5 and 22 so will develop). BTA would also chip in, I would hope, alongside a back up to them.

I think selling Wright allows for funds to be sent across the team and I’m not opposed to keeping Simms but think he needs to develop as a first choice which he wouldn’t be for me. Wouldn’t also want to rip up the entire strike force which is why I’d keep 2 out of the 4

Not your average season but we would have needed another 31 points to make the autos. To get up there we definitely need a rethink. If we are happy with the play offs then just a tinker.

What would he cost? £3.3m in Jan and contracted until 2029. I’d say £8m+

At least one striker will have to leave in the summer. We're too top heavy in that area of the squad and budget would be better utilised if reallocated elsewhere.

I suspect the latter given that we would need a significant rebuild in either scenario to compete in the prem.

I’d probably say 5\6 million plus add ons. He’d be expensive for sure but I think worth it in this regard. Plus will some good free agents available we might be able to spend more on one or two individual players than we could in the last rebuild.

Ive seen some Champ teams like WBA are interested.

Don't even think moving on Simms and BTA is controversial and not sure why some are so upset about it tbh, its weird. You take your money back on those all day if its offered.
As for Wright, it's just a convo, could Frank benefit more with the money from Wright than keeping Wright? Depends on the fee doesn't it?

Surely Salech will be available a bit more affordable now they’ve gone down. £5m?

Salech and a free transfer, Emil Riis as an example, but there's probably better if i can be arsed to look... for the money you'd get for BTA and Simms probably with some change is a no brainer. Hope the club are smarter than some on here.

Wright is better on the left lets be honest, he always has been. Lampard seems to really like EMC there, so its a difficult one.

I don't disagree but let's face it, this forum doesn't have good history when it comes to judging strikers' ability.

Not sure what you mean, many people on this forum would have kept Biamou over Gyokeres so... oh wait you're right.

ABILITY, APPLICATION, ATTITUDE that's what needs coaching into our strikers.

Application and attitude are difficult things to coach. Most just have it or they don’t.

Salech is a good shout. Someone who should in theory looks like he'd fit into the current system nicely and suit how Lampard's trying to get our forwards to play.

Lampard probably prefers to be able to rotate Wright and EMC on the left but has little choice but to play Wright up front. That's why for me the priority is a proper Centre Forward and a Right Winger to rotate with Sakamoto. Otherwise you've got EMC-WRT-SAK as you front 3 and nowhere to go from there really; it doesn't look like Simms is going to get a long run of games as starting CF next season, does it?
