Just hope he bangs in 20 goals and we can get a good fee for him next summer now

Wright needs to be played down the middle now.
He looks lively this season, but when he was tackling an attacker on the edge our box against Norwich I was shaking my head. What’s our most talented attacker doing being back there in a home in a winnable home game that is currently 0-0.
Play him off Simms down the miiddle.

Missing O'Hare. He was the catalyst for so much of our good play last season, he knitted our attacking play together. Gives the forward line someone to play off. That industry is missing this season. Very one paced and pedestrian.

We put him through the middle yesterday & then I don't think he even touched the ball again.

He’s incredibly dangerous on the left though. Hence the amount of goals he got last year. Won’t happen up top because we’ve signed 14 other strikers.

With Godden gone, Thomas-Asante was a major upgrade . All good. To then bring in Bassette, who is clearly a CF (not a winger) was bizarre.
I think the club were expecting a possible move for Simms or Wright and made sure they had the adequate cover. Talk of 3 bids turned down on deadline day…

Reading between the lines Simms to Bournemouth with Billing the other way was the deal and may still be on in Jan.

I have to disagree with putting him down the middle.

I understand you’re point, re we lose something when he’s tracking so deep, but he looked poor last season up front and yesterday I genuinely forgot he was on the pitch when we went central.

He had the beating of their RB in the first 20, then seemed to just stop.

Think it was Oggy post game that said we need a flatter three so one ofnthe CMs can cover Bidwell and let Wright worry about attacking. Going 4231 means he has to track back.

Don't think so, think he's Doug's next big investment a la Gokyeres myself,Haji Will probably move on this summer all things being equal, give the lad this year to acclimatise, year after 15 goal target, year after 20 goals, how long have we signed him for 4 or 5yrs? Simms the year after Haji or maybe not and the other way round?
