We need some nasty bastards up front. I'd take both Moore and Morris. Having strikers who can actually win headers and we'll get promoted next season!

In Wrights defence he came back from a nasty injury and that affects sharpness and confidence. However I would have brought Simms on at start of extra time but think we kept him on for penalties.
Next season we have to start fast and need some investment in squad. We could push hard for the autos if we play to our potential.
Sunderland were pretty dire over the two legs, they are not going up hopefully.
Come on lads and lasses don't worry too much, lads did us proud.

I posted on a thread last season after the Ipswich game that Moore would be a great signing for us. Mature player, hold up play is good and can get stuck in.

I don't know what happened to Simms these two games. But both him and Wright can be beyond infuriating. Thing is, we know what they're capable of. But neither of them have delivered anywhere near that these last few games.

Wright especially for me has been absolutely frustrating since he bagged three against these. For a bloke of his size, he always seems to be out muscled. I'm convinced he's been carrying some kind of knock these last two games, but then if he was, how has he played the full quota in both of them?

Really pains me to say it, but i think i now agree, been his biggest fan for years but cant see him being the player the midfield needs now we have Grimes. He cant carry the ball forward and thats what we need. If he was putting in “Sheaf” performances you could look to get that from elsewhere but he’s not even what he used to do best well now. Gutting to see

Said in Jest…Remember GIMOC alluded to something a while ago.

Who knows, maybe he’s injured, maybe he just doesn’t care. Very much a weird one. For me though I expect at a minimum some fucking effort and between tonight and Friday he’s been woeful.

Tells you everything you need to know Simms not playing a minute of the playoffs. Expect we will try offload him. Add sheaf and wright to that list and I’d be happy.

Lampard is a big pull, that and our stock being at its highest as a club for sometime I fully expect us to give it a good go next season.

Get rid of both, and Asante too. I can take players not being good enough if they put their bodies on the line and work hard (Jamie Allen). But they're both jogging around the pitch, don't look interested. Neither offer the goods for the amount of money we paid. Rebuild the front line, and I liked the suggestion of Moore or Morris, either would get 20 goals in this side and would be a great short term option, allows us to back fill several positions too.

Bang on. Not gonna hound him out my club and if he's here next season, I'd understand why, but he was so far off everyone tonight it was stark. Gutted.

Is definately offload Simms. Quite telling for me that he hasn’t been used at all for the playoffs. The blokes a wet wipe on the pitch. We know how good Wright is but since the hat trick, his performances and forms been awful and tonight, he had no fight in him so I’m leaning towards cashing in.

Starting point outs

collins
Bidwell
Sheaf
Simms
BTA
Cash in on Wright
I want MVE to stay but can see him going

Indeed, Ballard was out injured before the two games and literally fought his way through them. Haji was fucking pathetic.

I think FL has seen enough to know he needs more energy and better finishers than we currently have. Norman has a chance and id like to see if Obikwu has developed, but to replace those 3 Dolan, Hardie and the kid from Cardiff would all add more in attacking areas.

Have to agree with that.
At his best, he was a quality player, and someone i admired, but the last 18 months, he's been average at best, and not someone who as captain, will inspire his team mates.
Since coming back from injury this season, he's looked very poor, and now looks way out of his depth.
He can't seem to find a pass, and is holding onto the ball far too long, and then losing it and putting us under pressure.
We really should have sold him at the top of his form and when he allegedly wanted to go.
Sadly that ship has now sailed, and we'll get a fraction of that supposed nice fee.
As much at it hurts to lose good players, we have to at least try and sell at the top of their form and hence valuation, and then re-invest.

We’re not going to sell either of them. BTA is more likely to offloaded before either of those two.

Tonight he was on the pitch for penalties because looking at the personnel on the pitch, I wasn’t optimistic we’d get it done. In the end, cruelly, we didn’t need penalties.

I'm going to wait and see if FL has anything to say about Wright. Whether he had been carrying an injury etc.

Simms hadn't scored since the middle of February, so it could that FL felt he had to play Wright.

Wright just hasn't played at all well or much of an impact on games for some time and it's been very puzzling.

The problem there is then that Simms wasn't scoring, so wasn't really an option in terms of replacing Wright, Bassette just seems well short of where he needs to be right now and probably needs a loan and BTA for the most part, has looked a very poor signing.

Anyway, will be interesting to see if Lampard says anything and whether Wright will be quickly off, or whether there is some explanation for Wright's poor drop in form.

We need a fresh start upfront. Just too much hard work trying to get something consistent out of Simms or Wright.
Offload both and get some aggression and tenacity upfront it will make a huge difference.

Wright and Simms were brought to play in a Mark Robins team which was set up completely differently to how Frank Lampard wants to play. Sadly both struggling to adapt. I'd let Simms go but I'm hoping with a full pre season and full fitness along with a few more signings Haji may come good again. Let's not forget he's still our top scorer this season even after missing 4 months. He has been poor tho especially in the playoffs.

I wouldn’t be at all bothered if Simms went but players who get the amount of goals Wright does are gold dust. You’ve got to try and keep him - and we will get offers. But we do need a clinical striker added to the squad.

Gimoc alludes to a lot of things, but you may as well listen to the cat.

Fwiw, I don't think he's downed tools (Wright, not gimoc), it's just his personality; he loses heart easily and rather than scrap, goes within himself. It was the same when he arrived. He's bit lily-livered, but he's also supremely talented at this level.

He's what he is, the question is to you bring in someone who's probably nowhere near as talented, but will give you consistent performances every week, and will show battle even when it's not going for them.

Simms will inevitably be enough but I’m not convinced anyone will offer the amount we’d want to sell Wright.

Even though they have all underperformed, I can't see how we can possibly get rid of Wright, Simms AND BTA

Be a bit of a madness to let three strikers go.

We need to keep one at least and the best of the three is Haji Wright

I'm glad i am not the only one. I just haven't been able to see this "Prem-quality", "Best MF in the Champ" title having anything to back it up. And his shooting (including from the penalty spot) is atrocious! Time to go-o!
