I agree the set up was poor but doesn't excuse some of the performances

Both EMC and BTA are good at taking goal chances but for me they can never deliver a pass with the ball outside the 18yd box. They always want to try and dribble around 3/4 opponents instead of an early release. Always ends up giving the ball away.

See the usual suspects are back with their long standing stupid judgements on players .
Tonight was always going to be hard without MvE on the right , add to that the loss of Thomas as well and we were weaker at the back .
Was brave / misguided of Frank to stick with 4 up top but who do you drop ?
Anyway Saka was incredible tonight , Woolfenden was pretty woeful , KKH didn't offer the same threat as Milan ,Allen and Grimes lacked the physicality in midfield.
Bad night at the office , smash the Blunts Tuesday and keep the promotion push going

I didn't think we played that badly. Wrexham were psyched out and furious in the second half. Fair play to them, I suppose.

Tats was excellent. KKH did ok. Allen first half ok. Rushworth decent. Rest average to poor.
Simms did ok when he came on.

Defence stretched. Midfield left to cover too much ground. And attack not effective tonight. Need more bodies in midfield when under pressure.

Not good at all tonight and well beaten, Looking forward to Bobby Thomas being back.

it’s really worrying that we’ve been so open in midfield recently and had many shots on our goal as a result, and nothing has been done to address it.

Our starting 11 is top 6. A few changes and the level drops dramatically, which to be fair we knew would be the case. Reinforcements needed in January desperately.

Its seems lampards game plan is attack best form of defence.

The Woolf and KKH are not bad players - they just haven’t had enough starts to get into the rhythm of the team yet.

Brau must be gutted he didn’t get a game. If MVE was available then maybe KKH switches to LB.

Doug and Frank know we need another midfielder - the Sheaf cash was great but showed in many ways how we missed him last night.

Thought Tats was outstanding, and EMC and Grimes played well. KKH is a decent player, but suffered as part of a 'new' back 4. Thought we might have benefitted from some Eccles grit, The player who disappointed me most was Wright, as much for his failure to impact the game. That said, take away our first half goal, and we created little in that first half, and were more than unfortunate to be a goal up. Now is not the time to be ripping the team to bits; we just need the likes of Torp and Rudoni back in asap, and hope Thomas' strain doesn't keep him out for long. There is only one Moore like player in the division, and bar the Bristol City centre backs, no other team offers that aerial threat imo.

His Direct challenger Simms for the fulcrum striker spot. Comes in and has a blinding game at Portsmouth and is dropped immediately for him.

Simms looked like getting back to his best a few games ago..and just seems to warming the bench.

Simms made more runs trying to get behind the defence than Haji did in 75 mins.

The formation was totally wrong mindful of the opposition. Allen should have been nowhere near the team and Lati should have come in against a team of big physical players.

3-5-2 or rather 2-3-3-2 with Lati being a covering defender. In the event Lati tired then bring in Eccles or at a push Torp to be an CDM covering / breaking up. Allen got bullied and it meant we lost the middle ground totally.

Rushworth 6

He did make a couple of really good saves but I do think he could have done better fit the second goal. Does he vocally arrange his defence? Not sure, but the best keepers do.

KKH 5

He’s clearly a wing back not a full back in a back 4. Was often out of position leaving huge gaps down that side which were plain to see as he tried to overlap with Tats. Doesn’t have quite the pace of MVE.

Wolf 4

Poor all round. Bad night/rusty or maybe didn’t have decent cover in front. See Lati -Allen comment above.

Kitching 5

Had a tussle with Moore but can’t help think that the bigger Woolfenden should have been tasked with man marking. But sure who was given what instruction there. Out of position often. The whole defence often relies on MVE pace to cover breaks. When he’s not there……

Bidwell 5

Cumbersome performance. Too slow to get crosses in and preferred to try to find Grimes or EMC rather than just bang it into the danger area when the opportunity was clearly there.

Grimes 7

Didn’t do a lot wrong but he’s the captain. Letting BTA and Haji take free kicks is odd. Why? Who is most likely to be on their toes to knock in a rebound? (BTA). Who is better in the box to try to head in a well flighted ball? (Wright). WTF were they on free kicks in dangerous, Grimes perfect positions? Torp on kicks I understand. The others? No.

Allen 4

Not his fault but he’s not at this level. Looked like a kid against men. On several occasions chose to pass far backward when our entire team was in an attacking zone, totally breaking up rhythm. Can’t recall one cross shot or tackle of note. Dispossessed easily. Other than that - fantastic.

BTA 6

Played a bit too far up as a 10 rather than an 8 that was needed against a packed midfield. He’s all energy and he should have preyed on Sheaf who would have undoubtedly flapped and been dispossessed had he been pressured.

EMC 7

Scored but not quite on it. Needs to remember that if he can muscle his way into the box he’s a poorly timed tackle away from a pen regularly, such is his style of run.

Tats 9

Some players aren’t used to playing in a non-league stadium on a dank Friday night. Haji decided to not play too much.

Keeper was off his line and split second decision. Guess none of us complain if it goes in (like it did at Swansea away last season).

Actually think his scores a bit unfair too. Wright I get, BTA didn't always execute well, but drop back deeper and still put a shift in so the 4s are a pip or two too low imo.

Tats clear motm 9, Ephron next 7.5. Bar his kicking i thought Rushworth ok too (7) but not seen the goals back.

What happened with Kitching and Moore? Moore was involved in a tussle in the box in front of us with Bidwell, 2 mins later it was all kicking off. Was Moore the instigator or was Kitching trying to be the enforcer again? My rating of him probably relies on if that was a silly or unreasonable booking as he was fine until then, but the team appeared to capitulate after. Now out Tuesday too.

Midfield Grimes was ok but nothing more probably 6, Allen buzzed around everywhere but looked a bit lost and either needed some help or pulling earlier 5.

Bidders very disappointing (4), KKH and Wolfenden hard to rate, not great, but no cohesion along that backline, who you could see hadn't played together.

Lampard must take some of the criticism for the selections, but with fitness issues I'm not sure what options he had available.

Bit of everything last night. Individual mistakes, some players not familiar with each other, good players missing, formation not the best after a few sub-par performances.

Really missing Rudoni now imo. Did well without him but oppo are adjusting to the way we have compensated for his absence.

Anyway, I’m enjoying Leicester currently losing at home to Blackburn and maybe some other games go our way today.

We weren’t as bad as is being made out. The midfield being overrun has been happening since Portsmouth away. Allen is slightly off it and Grimes plays de facto centre half. We need Eccles in there and is was crying out for him last night just to give us some legs.

Modern keepers stray a lot from their area. It’s a great tool to have in the locker but this wasn’t the time
