With Luton

We were a penalty kick away from our time in the prem but Luton went there instead. They had a decent season against the big boys but have then had two relegations on the trot and lost to Wimbledon in league 1 this weekend.

We stayed in the championship and had an fa cup run - and got to celebrate that torp goal even if it didn’t count.

So, sliding doors moment, would you swap our last two seasons and our current position for Luton’s move to the prem but subsequent drop?

Not now, no. Dropping back to L1 and having to sell a club legend like Carlton Morris to the Derby must be absolutely galling. They did ok in the Prem but they got ravaged by injuries which must have been maddening. 3-0 up to Bournemouth when desperate for points and lose 4-3.

Just a completely frustrating 2 years although it might help get a stadium built.

i think we would have performed better in the prem than luton, and esp in the champ afterwards.
we would have kept hamer and ohare, who knows, maybe even gyok too.

Probably not. I think we're still on an upward trajectory and we'll get another shot at promotion at some point soon.

We've found from past experiences that it's difficult to get out of a negative spiral, and Luton may not immediately bounce back up this season.

No, our fans are in meltdown about not signing a £8m player.

Imagine if we'd have been relegated to League 1 again.

Some Rolla coaster that has been for Luton. Wouldn’t swap it though. I think actually Luton shocked themselves the infrastructure, stadium and player profiles they were not fully prepared. It’s bought them a stadium so good luck Something we can’t seem to do.

1 season in the Prem losing every week isn’t worth going back to League One.

No, my jealousy towards Luton evaporated when they went to Brighton away on the first game of the next season and were routinely battered 4-1

We were nowhere near being able to compete had we got promoted. We had a padded out back line full of loanees and relied on the brilliance of two players to make the playoff final .

I’d have swapped just to see how Hamer and Gyo would’ve done in the Prem playing for us.

Genuinely don’t think we’d have been relegated.

Be easier to get tickets after two relegations.

Tbh I'm not fussed what league we're in, going to the game is just what we do. It would have been nice even for a season to visit those new Prem grounds, but overall I'm happier with our trajectory than theirs. Even in the season they were Prem we had Wolves away and United in a Wembley SF.

Don’t think we would of been relegated, every other team going up in that time was relegated

You have 2 players to make a Day 1 impact in the Prem and with the riches of Prem money, we probably go out and spend a lot of money upgrading the team.

Personally, I believe we’d have made a better fist of staying up than Luton and even Burnley that year.

No

We’ve ended up in a better position than them

I'm torn, I think I possibly would swap...... if we had won at Wembley it would have been the happiest day of my life. To now be in L1 with parachute monies you'd have to be pretty confident of coming back up at the first ask. Obviously in this universe we would likely have a less strong Championship side in 26/27 than we will in reality.......but man, winning that play-off at Wembley would have been the best.

I believe the Gyokeres road map was planned by his agent... there was no chance he stayed if we went up... get the goals in Portugal to get the big move.

I do think we would have been relegated from the Prem BUT have a really strong squad, started well last year and got promoted again last season.Would have still been with Robins too.

I wouldn't swap after what's happened since. I would however absolutely have preferred we got promoted that day than not, we'd have managed the situation much better ever if we did ultimately get relegated to the championship. 9/10 teams come back down much stronger on and off the pitch. Getting up whenever and however we possibly can should always be the aim, would be a brilliant achievement

Of course the aim is always promotion, but I kind of like where we are too. The Championship is a properly competitive division, every game is a challenge, hopefully we're regularly near the top of the pile, and there's no VAR.

Lots to like there, imho.

Of course the aim should be getting promoted. Three months of dreaming what might happen. But reality would soon hit home and we would lose most weeks. The yoyo clubs are starting to suffer in their quest to becoming a settled Prem club.

We have a very good chance of going up this season but I won't be too upset if we don't. Other than the money we would get and watching us play sides we haven't played for 25 years there wouldn't be much to look forward to.

On balance - no. Solely because I can now see them being trapped in L1 for quite a long time.

No, I think it was way too soon for us we are only just getting to be a serious Championship side with the right infrastructure in place I don't want to go up if we aren't going to put up a good fight.

The premier league is such a closed shop now that actually trying to get in it is more fun than being in it. Therefore we’ve just extended that joy.

I think if the opportunity presents itself for promotition you take it .If your working on having everything in place things comes along and disrupt it.I look at Sunderland for instants don't think they are ready to go up but they have done so with the intention of giving it a darn good go.I hope and think they will succeed.I also think Leeds will stay up.
I admit Ipswich went up way before they were ready (2 promotions in successive seasons) and may suffer this season.I'm always of the thought you take it if it comes and enjoy the ride.
I do hope if we went up and things were a bit sticky we would resist the call like most teams do to sack the manager the guy who got you there.
