1. We would have ample time to strengthen this season, just as we did last year with Grimes in January etc. And the value of the fee isn’t limited to this season of course.1. The season is ongoing, we would not have the time to upgrade the squad realistically
2. The fee will still be there next summer
3. It will have a material affect on our ability to compete for promotion this season - the value of promotion makes this fee pale into utter insignificance
This squad needs 2 signings of high quality currently for a promotion push1. We would have ample time to strengthen this season, just as we did last year with Grimes in January etc. And the value of the fee isn’t limited to this season of course.
2. That’s the risk you take - the value of your asset can go up and down etc
3. While there is obviously risk involved here too, this is the argument I have the most time for. But when the same people making it are also whining how ‘the squad doesn’t stand a chance unless we sign four more players’ etc then can you really factor in the opportunity cost of promotion?
Perhaps not, but our decision-making in transfer dealing isn’t limited to one transfer window at a time, is it? If it benefits the squad for the next four years, does it matter if we’re slightly worse for the next four months?Do you honestly believe if we lost Rudoni we would be in a better place when the window shuts? Really?

If the squad isn’t currently good enough for a promotion push and assuming our business is basically done then our season is basically over anyway? Why so upset about cashing in on Rudoni now then? This squad needs 2 signings of high quality currently for a promotion push
Well yes as that’s half a season gonePerhaps not, but our decision-making in transfer dealing isn’t limited to one transfer window at a time, is it? If it benefits the squad for the next four years, does it matter if we’re slightly worse for the next four months?
Why would our business be done? With or without Rudoni I think 2 signings would come in minimumIf the squad isn’t currently good enough for a promotion push and assuming our business is basically done then our season is basically over anyway? Why so upset about cashing in on Rudoni now then?
huh?Already sold
Who what where when ?Already sold
Best response of the day!!! 30m or do one30 million or fuck off would be my answer. Losing him will derail the season as we would have barely anytime to adequately replace

No, regardless of the fee at this point I would not sell him to anybody. I am confident that we'd still be able to sell next summer for a fee at least as high.
You can't treat every player as a ticking time bomb. It's beyond cowardly. You’d have thought that with Sheaf

Luckily players with an injury record like Sheaf are in the minorityYou’d have thought that with Sheaf

Yeh and his replacement might get hit by a bus the day after we buy him. Why invest anything at all in anyone?Values of assets change consistently. There’s no guarantee (in fact it’s pretty unlikely) that Rudoni has such a good season again.
Sell when the value is high, reinvest wisely, repeat

Have you considered he might have a better season and his value goes up or is it always worse case scenario?
With respect I don't have to think of the player. He's signed a contract and earns good money. We'd be denying him a move to league rival, he'd get over it.Yes.
You clearly don’t sell unless it’s a big number. 20m ish.
If selling Rudoni means we can get a Doyle/Hughes and then a CAM replacement I’m all for it.
Need to think of the player too. He’ll want to go. He’ll be doubling his salary and quadrupling his chances of being a premier league player next season
