A hypothetical as people seem more split on this than I thought

Southampton bid £20m upfront with 10% on a future sale.

Sale can be completed by the end of tomorrow.

Do you sell?

Why not just ask ‘are you a member of the Kingdom?’. Will see the same results

No, regardless of the fee at this point I would not sell him to anybody. I am confident that we'd still be able to sell next summer for a fee at least as high.

He’s was class last night an asset we must fight to keep, the problem is if the player gets their head turned. I think he looks up to Lampard so that works in our favour.

It would be a Championship record fee and would enable us to not only replace him with a marquee signing, but upgrade the rest of the squad in various other key positions. You need a very good reason to turn a bid like that down, and “I like Jack Rudoni” is not one of them.

Maybe the fact he’s integral to the way we play, contributed to 21 goals last year, there’s only 2 weeks left of the window and he’s our best player are good enough reasons

If you’re convinced that this current side is heading for the playoffs and there’s no need for further big investment then that’s a good argument, yes.

Do you honestly believe if we lost Rudoni we would be in a better place when the window shuts? Really?

How would you raise the £20m ? Don’t say selling Wright, Simms etc because we know there has not been interest in them this window …

It would give you more joy to raise £20m than win at Derby wouldn’t it?

i believe if it’s 20+ million we should probably accept but we lose any chance of going up this season if he goes imo

Not to a rival. Newcastle at that price yeah I wouldn’t stand in his way. Soton can pay the rival tax

If we needed the funds raised then the time to sell him was in July not 2 weeks before the window closes

He’s on a long contract and his value will not realistically decline - we need to sell MVE but I can’t see a lot of point yet with Rudoni

I think £20m is very close to the point where you have to seriously consider it.
£22.5m + 15% would seal it for me because with that we could bring in a direct replacement, CB and winger.

You can only sell when a buyer reaches your valuation and has the money …. I doubt Saints have the funds without selling Dibling et al ….

No. If we want to raise cash from player sales there's others we should attempt to sell first . Granted we would not generate as much revenue but a CB & a forward would do for now . I wish we knew how much was in the pot currently for purchases.

And if that’s the case then he remains our player.
I’d suggest if MVE stays our player and we lose Rudoni something has gone wrong with Doug’s plan for this summer

For how much?

For £20 - £25 million + add ons, yes. The club won't be able to refuse that type of offer.

For five quid, a pickled egg, and vouchers for a free perm, no.

ETA: saw the caveats: yes.

To be clear I don’t want to sell Rudi but I also recognise that it may become inevitable …. That’s football, always has been.

1. The season is ongoing, we would not have the time to upgrade the squad realistically
2. The fee will still be there next summer
3. It will have a material affect on our ability to compete for promotion this season - the value of promotion makes this fee pale into utter insignificance

Nope, I know it's a gamble but I don't see his sale value dropping between now and the end of the season.

I think his worth to the team would outweigh what we'd get upfront from any likely deal, especially when teams would know they can fleece us for replacements.

25-30m I'd accept so long as we have replacements lined up and FL is given 20m of it to spend in addition to what we already had as a transfer kitty

If, as a result of any sale(s) we end up with a stronger squad, then I have no problem with it. If we had the discussion about selling Steve Smethwick for £25m in 3 seasons time, but strengthened the squad by buying 3 players with the funds, it would get 100% approval. The problem is, as fans, we get emotionally attached to players (see Gus, Vik, Dennis Mortimer - for the oldies). You need to be detached as regards the 'business' but it is important that Doug and Frank are 'together' on said business.
