Would getting promoted this season be perfect timing? (1 Viewer)

If we do get promoted this season (I’m 99% certain), I’m thinking it gives us a much better chance of staying in the championship next year than it would in previous seasons.
Many teams in the championship will be hit hard financially and with players on big wages, can they afford to keep them? In general I think transfer fees and players wages will come down quite a bit this year and it may be our best chance of closing the gap on some of the teams as we should be more on a par and be able to compete with which players we can sign.
Any normal year, without big investment, we would struggle to compete as most teams who go up find out, but next season gives us our best chance.

If we can sign O'Hare and Walsh, an experienced Defender, to go with Hyam and Rose ( don't think McFadzean will cut it in Championship) a left back and proven goal scorer I think we could survive

We have got every chance of making some good loan signings or cheaper perm signings. Teams will be looking at cutting their wage bill. We haven’t overspent in the market the last couple of seasons and I’m confident Robins and the scouting teams will get the players we need

Sounds like Derby are in a very precarious position. Probably even before this all happened as well.

We are also have the advantage / disadvantage ,of not missing out on food and beverage revenues unlike the other clubs as we didn't get them anyway , yes we will need the extra income from the championship to subsidise any loss in revenue if games are behind closed doors ,but if we cut our cloth accordingly we hopefully won't be in as bad a place as other teams

We apparently had an excellent deal on F&B revenues and parking at St Andrews. Something we didn't have at the Ricoh.

Seen a LB mentioned a few times, but if Norwich aren't relegated, I'd like to think we could keep Sam on loan for the season.

It would be some effort from them to avoid relegation.

I think I read somewhere (but could be wrong) that there are a couple of clubs who are possibly going to have points deducted because of deals with stadiums and FFP. Derby and Sheff Weds rings a bell.
