All because a developer somewhere has released something dodgy and it's pushed out to millions of machines!

Someone's getting fired. Might be a good time to buy Microsoft and Crowdstrike shares.

When they first talked about Crowdstrike on the news, I thought it was some kind of terror group!

Technology huh, it's everywhere to make our lives easier and we're unfortunately too dependent on it now.

As a old trekkie ....

Probably a bit tin foil hat territory but there’s been a lot of ‘outages’ in the last few months but it’s always a problem with an update and never hackers

My guess: ChatGPT getting just good enough to copy and paste without checking for junior devs.

It's a security software, anti virus if you like.

It's that that caused all of the issues as they pushed out a bad update to everybody that caused servers and computers to blue screen.

The fix is manual as well so it needs somebody to physically fix each to get them back online. (Not just turn off and on).

Terrible disruption, but we all know there will be some big companies out there using this as an excuse for various delays and putting up costs!

A terrorist really in anything other than word, code however!
Funny how we laud companies, make them billion pound business's but hold such power over us,ah it's alright it was just a sub contact company, meanwhile the leading company with the actual contract with everyone is involved in a spat with governments around the globe who don't bend to their will, it's okay though as it's all so convenient isn't it?

‘Never summon a power you can’t control’: Yuval Noah Harari on how AI could threaten democracy and divide the world

Forget Hollywood depictions of gun-toting robots running wild in the streets – the reality of artificial intelligence is far more dangerous, warns the historian and author in an exclusive extract from his new book

There is no evidence we are any closer to AI than we were ten years ago. This is all fiction writing at this point.

We might as well be having public debates about the political implications uploading our brains to the cloud or time travel.
