Is anyone else planning to go to this?

I have been quite excited about this for a while and actually won the ticket ballot lottery. My slot for buying tickets was today, but upon logging in I cannot find a single ticket in any stadium for any match under 300 dollars. Most are around 500 dollars. Was planning to do a handful of games and travel round the USA and maybe Mexico a bit, but not sure I will bother now!

Mexico City is a great City, I've heard Guadalajara and Monterrey the same, safer than most USA cities, just gets bad publicity probably trying to put off US tourists and make them vacate at home

I was also keen a year or 2 ago, just think it'd end up being way out of my budget. Going to enjoy the UK and Ireland euros and hopefully do a good stint at the 2030 WC in Spain/Portugal instead.

Slightly reluctant to giving infantino my money tbf

My work HQ is over there, so I might still go and just watch games in a bar or sneak some last minute cut-price tickets someone is trying to flog.

This price structure is just ridiculous though, and given that you don't know who you would be watching yet, the concept of paying 500 dollars to watch Uzbekistan play New Zealand just seems like a staggering waste of money!

I know you probably wouldn’t go to Democrat cities anyway for fear of turning into a lesbian () but Trump has made noises about moving host cities if there’s ‘trouble’ so probably best not to plan/buy tickets around visiting a handful of those cities. FWIW I’d stick to the ‘central region’ as that looks the safest (and most interesting) from a planning perspective. Equally, though, don’t know where your head office is.

The ticket scenario is a bit of a minefield. A bad draw and you’ll struggle to even give them away. I managed to get tickets for England v Wales and Ukraine v Northern Ireland on the same day and had to find someone to give the NI ticket away - I even had to pay the postage!

Given the locations selected, I don't think any of the cities that are hosting on the USA side are particularly at risk of that sort of thing. I suspect it is Mr Trump just sending warnings so that they get their shit together and don't cause any potential embarrassment. If it were to happen I would say the west coast ones are most at risk, but having lived there I have been there and done it anyway. Was looking more for the Kansas and Texas fixtures, but not currently at those prices!

Your story as a good example, I think I will hold fire and see how things develop. My office is in New Jersey, but I really don't have a huge desire to go to any games around there. I will probably just book a work trip to HQ conveniently in June and take my chances from there.

I wouldn't be too comfortable saying the word "draw" in the US, not with all those guns about.

I had every intention of going to this - It’s my 50th next year and had planned to celebrate by spending 10 days over there, attending 3/4 games. I did similar for the Euros in 2016, for my 40th.

I have no issue in attending the less glamorous group games - I’d love to see Cape Verde v Uzbekistan!

The ticket process is completely immoral, however (FIFA - who knew?!, and I’m not getting involved in dynamic pricing or sodding “Right to Buys”!

Not going - Put the World Cup on the fire to do the first test of The Ashes next month instead

Hopefully it is a good and accessible tournament for those who choose to go, but I have my reservations!

Adidas have released all their World Cup shirts today. Some crackers in there, but not sure they'll all be getting as much use as others...

The Japan shirt is class. Wonder have genuinely far off Sakamoto would be from their squad?

Should be going. Not sure if a week yet or longer, going to be the most expensive yet from tickets, travel and accommodation basis. The ticket element is scandalous

I’m mulling over my options too. I originally planned to do the whole month but financially, that’s not viable.

Germany last year was a great jolly being out for the whole month. Equally, what I’d spent there is roughly a 1/3 of what you’d expect for a month in the US. Easily a £8-12k trip.

Has anyone looked at refundable flights to NY from England just incase we can get there?

I've read if he gets a 3 match ban for violent conduct and Portugal qualify, he could be missing their first group game.
Might actually work in their favour

I thought it was ironic that the commentators were saying that Ronaldo was on a charm offensive prior to the game, he ballsed that up !

The European qualifying groups are a joke.

Its almost a case of how bad have to try bot to be in some weird one off system which is trying to fix itself.

Wales Scotland and Ireland are all shite but get through anyway

Scotland 3-0 down and then the Greek side forget how to defend 3-2 with 20 minutes left.

Massive reforms needed to the UEFA calendar, particularly the Euros qualification process - 32 teams in a 57 confederation is a joke.

The basis of qualification should be the Nations League. As a supporter, what is the point of the likes of Andorra coming to play Tier 1 nations?

Rugby has a good model of ‘tests’ rather than matches. I’d like to see more games against the likes of Tier 1 teams.
