Is the indoor pitch full size?

It's a very big gym Nick, sprung woooden floor, very expensively built. I'm not sure it's quite big enough for a full size football pitch in truth, but it's probably not far off. Honestly though mate, I wouldn't build your hopes up, I can just see too many obstacles, not least of which the club and the council and the complete lack of trust (and competence) they share.

I'm not, especially as it's based on Fisher saying "its been considered" and Maton.

What about if they build it up as a CCFC Academy and then it isn't their fault it doesn't happen so it has to be used for housing?

Cynical I know, but I wouldn't put it past them.

It would depend on both parties being genuine in what they want and say.
I appreciate that and did consider the political angle before the OP, but it really would be a fantastic solution and prevent a huge waste of a former resource.

The Finham Park 2 is weird, converted offices. Very strange place to put a school on that road.

There's loads of them, I was in an office block school the other year that stayed open for all of about 3 years.

There's this weird idea that if you just get the current leadership team of a "decent" school lik Finham to open up a sequel, then even if it's in a coal pit and staffed by rabid dogs, it'll perform well. So schools with tradition that don't perform so well get fucked over so we can pretend that what puts Finham top of the league tables is magic Finham dust and not in fact a cohort of very able kids.

School strategy is a joke. Random shit popping up where no one wants it, decent schools people like forced to close. Expect full privatisation by 2024 barring some major miracle that gets Corbyn elected.

I would think the indoor facilities at Woodlands would be ideal and the outside pitches could be developed. Having our academy based there I would think will cover any education proviso. Council owned ? they owe us don't they ?

It would be a great site with what is already there and the size of the area, just needs massive investment to get to a standard a professional club needs with progression in mind??? oh hold on...

Anyway you stack it Wingy, I'd say that's it's a poor decision. Woodlands wasn't helped by converting to an Academy and then having pretty useless leadership, but it's a site that is purpose built for education. Finham Park 2 is an office block. Given the plans are to grow the city substantially on that side of town (and indeed it has grown already with the new Bannerbrook estate), I can't believe that the authorities have been so passive in allowing Woodlands to close permanently.

Central policy an absolute minefield for at least 20 years or more now, goalposts moved more than once a Parliament.

My lad zed to play there in the 5 aside league.
It was a Sports college so shouldn't take much to get it upto standard.
Most of it can be put in one area then the rest could still be housing if they want to.

Haven't they got a bar as well by the 5 aside pitch? Make it all sky blue and have little events there.

Agree with you there. Despite being a Labour man I think local politicians are the worse kind, regardless of their political hue.

Exactly wouldn't matter who was in charge I believe we would still have the same problems.

Well, it would be boycotted anyway, so it doesn't need to be big.

Despite the cynicism on the this thread, the noises coming out of both CCFC and CCC about this seem positive to me – it might just be a great opportunity.

Isn’t a new road (effectively a western bypass) intended to link the A46 near Stoneleigh with the A45 or A452? I imagine that would open up development sites on that side of the city in a few years, maybe even for a stadium. The training facilities being in the same general area would make sense. I’m not getting excited, especially given Fisher’s track record, but it gives me some faint hope for the long term. In the present state of the club, daydreams are all we have left.
