Oh fuck right of with that shit. You can say the crowd at a game is not as good as the pundits are saying and not be sexist.

bore off

Was never saying that to you !

I was only referring to the reason why the atmosphere didn't sound like a men's football match - that was all?!?

Yeah I haven't watched for a while but I've seen them reach heights far better than this under previous manager's while eventually falling at the final hurdle.
So don't know how typical that performance was .

Yep, think the first game at a home tournament in front of a massive crowd probably got the nerves going in a few which is to be expected. Can definitely play a lot better. Important thing is we won and they won't have to play in front of as big a crowd until they get to the final

Just got back…. Very very impressed with how we played. Moving the ball so fast from the back to the front. On the crowd front….. it is def diff vibe to the blokes…. Those fecking clapping things were annoying. The Mexican wave is a bit cheesy but all the girls football teams and there were loads loved it!! So why the feck not. Final observation… I have never seen so many lesbians in a square mile as I have today!!! Womens footballmust be huge in the gay community. Never realised that!! Whoever is making all those dungarees and lumberjack shirts are making a killing!!

It has - the make up (pun intended) of the crowd will be hugely different to a men's match.

Lots of families there, which was great to see (obviously pricing helped). Half decent game, atmosphere was good. My girls really loved it, hoping it'll be a platform to getting them more into CCFC. Next game for us is the final at Wembley, same day as start of our season.

I do like to watch the women.

And this gives me chance to do so without getting barred or arrested.

Joking aside, the quality since I watched the Women's football at The Ricoh (as was) at the 2012 Olympics (Sweden v Japan) has improved massively imo.

Never heard of most of the players. Disappointing that the FA decided to make the women’s game have the same ‘big name’ teams as the men’s when most of those clubs never cared about women’s football in the first place.
It’s clear that the BBC is trying ‘fake it till you make it’ with the popularity side of things.

None of that withstanding it will have meant a lot to all the girls aspiring to play at the highest level they can to see some people at last taking it seriously and bringing a tournament here. Which really is more important than whatever else goes above.

Otis, unless it’s combined with tattoos, work shirts, short cropped hair and listening to Barbara Streisand LPs there’s nothing to see here. If it is, then any plans on taking a future son-in-law up the City need to be reconsidered.

I knew nearly all of them. They are big names in the women's game. Hemp, Stanway, Bright, Bronze, White.

I have been watching England women's games for a while now. The standard has risen dramatically.

I just went through her record collection. Thank God she only has albums by KD Lang, Liza Minelli and then an autobiography of Ellen De Generes.

Phew! That's lucky.

Agree, Otis, I knew two of the three subs England brought on too ! Don't watch a lot of the club stuff, but that Dutch Arsenal forward Miedema is a very good player.

One of the major criticisms of women's footy was the standard of goalkeeping
Last night both keepers were superb.

I really disagree… some of the play was exceptional. You just have to get the mens top flight Footie out your head because it’s apples and pears….. it does have some advantages over the mens game… at least these players have a grasp on reality and aren’t so far removed from the general population! There’s a refreshing innocence and honesty about them that departed the top flight of mens football long ago. They get kicked…. They get up…. No play acting bullshit … and the dark art of shit housery has yet to develop. Will it replace my mens football… at club level no chance… but at international level there’s a possibility . I fell out with mens England football years ago….

I thought the same until I read this article, no specialist goalkeeping coaches even at the top level until recently

Goalkeepers in women’s football – and what is fair criticism?

In this week’s newsletter we explore why female goalkeepers are specifically targeted and what is being done to help them

I hadn't thought of it like that tbf. Just "this is nowhere near as good as the mens" But yeah good way of looking at it!

Same with the mens, not arsed at all.

Ref the atmosphere, yeah man, just different aint it? Majority female/young voices dont sound as deep/intimidating as blokes I suppose.

The last womens world Cup showed how the standard was rising, these Euros will showcase it even further
Watch the games for what they are and you'll be pleasantly entertained

The atmosphere is weird…. So at the mens you have a beer and walk up the steps to see the lush green grass and you can feel the atmosphere when it’s a sell out… it’s electric. But whilst there was a buzz… I walked up and just didn’t get those butterflies last night. Then the happy clapping with those cardboard things then the Mexican wave followed by phone lights… its not really a footy crowd… it’s very young because it’s a young sport. And there’s a lot of girls there…so yeah the atmosphere is not for me.
But the Mrs says that she didn’t miss the open use of coke or gobby middle aged blokes shouting abuse at people …. But accepts that come the start of the season I’ll be back on it

I can imagine it's similar to a Soccer Aid crowd, but with fewer Instagram influencers and Z-listers.

Serious question, what do they do about toilets if the vast majority in the crowd are female?

That was a huge crowd last night.

N Ireland v Denmark. Clearly no one of ethnic origin good enough to play for either country. I'm surprised the BBC haven't refused to screen it. They'll be horrified
And no I'm not being racist but it looks very odd.
Far too much attention is given to promoting women's football but it's clear that not enough opportunity is given to promoting minority groups involved at the highest level, certainly in this instance.
Or perhaps they're just crap. You'd have to assume this is the case.
