What would his price tag be, 1m - 1.5m in current form

I think we'll finally see what sort of ambitions SISU really have!

Contract until Summer 15 - if SISU cave in on this, it'll be a catalyst to destabilise Pressley (which I don't think they'll want to do). They can always tell Leon to hang on 'til Summer (still get a fee for him then) and depending on where we are at that point, maybe he'd be happy to re-sign. If not, fair enough - we'll rebuild - but to try and kick on without Leon and Calum would be a step too far for us (and SP?) unless we hit extremely lucky with replacements,:thinking about:

We expected interest in players so this is nothing new. Leon is not adverse to changing clubs if Sisu are willing to cash in. More of a concern would be what effect it would have on SP if he was sold.
Obviously this is all hypothetical and we will just have to wait and see.

There is no smoke without fire and where Leon is concerned, past history shows how nomadic a player he is.

Nope, £0.5M tops. Anyway I don't see how they can let him go now especially as Wilson is out for some time, (if Wilson comes back too soon no doubt some cynical bugger will target his shoulder & dislocate it again).

Don't think it will be happening, not to these clubs mentioned at any rate ... Callum's injury is still unquantified, selling him in January could be suicide for the season.

Callum's injury ironically helps secure Leon's services, at least till the Summer.

Think your about right on the price. Possibly maybe another 200k - 300k at a push. Cant see him breaking the £1m mark (or perhaps with future add-on)

Callum being injured could actually be paramount in Leon staying!!!
There again money talks..

If 4 clubs genuinely interested then the valuation is likely to be increased

Yeah, a lot of these fees they quote have conditions, like payment after xx games, xx goals, an international cap etc., so the selling club quotes the figure with all add-ons paid up & the buying club quotes the basic fee.

Of course there is smoke without fire, or did Baker, Clarke, Wilson, etc all leave in the last transfer window without me noticing?

The good thing is we got Joe Cole in on loan.

Would imagine that if a serious bid came in 500k up they would struggle to turn it down. I pray he stays as he has been brillant for us. I would also worry that Callum would not be as effective without him and that would maybe stall his development a bit.

He's worth more than £1m to us playing for the next season and a half anyway. How much would 30-40 goals cost us to replace, before you get onto the cost to the team or Wilson's development.

They'd be insane to sell him. One of those players worth more to us than anyone would pay at his age IMO.

I wonder if we make it to end of Jan with our main (*) players intact if the fans will realise that Sisu/Otium are serious about the club moving forward and give the team some more support for the remaining games this year? With just a little bit of atmosphere at SF it might make the difference between T10 and playoffs...

* I think we are resigned to the possibility of losing Cyrus given his refusal to pen a new deal...

I think you'll find that during this month's tranfer window (silly season as Fergie used to call it) newspapers' job is to 'rumour' about possible interests. It sells newspapers. Let's just relax see what's going to happen and get ready for the FA cup match PUSB

If Wilson is out for any length of time then clearly we need to hold on to Clarke. That said everyone has a price and if a high end offer comes in for him, and I think this thread has a lot of under valuations for a player scoring for fun with term left on his contract, then it will be hard to say no. Of course it is essential that if Clarke, or anyone else for that matter, does leave the full amount received is made available to Elvis to get in replacements.

Specs WT-R75...."With just a little bit of atmosphere at SF it might make the difference between T10 and playoffs"......................................................................................................It's never going to happen, so don't even try to persuade me and 90% of supporters to go to Sixfields!!!

Promotion back up to the Championship is said to be worth 5m a season. The only bad run we have been on was when Clarke was out injured. In the last 2 games we have gone from 10 points out of the playoffs to just 6 points outside them. Just 2 wins away.

Hopefully they learned their lesson from letting Juke go. Half a season to go and playing catch up isn't a time to get rid of your best players. We need a few more in. They have put about 25m to 30m into our club. Cashing in on 500k or so will not help them get their money back. Getting us promoted, back at the Ricoh and giving us an average Championship whilst keeping a hold on the wage bill will give them back a fair bit each season until they are ready to sell.

Is that the same as we are definitely playing in Walsall with a threadbare squad as Christie, Clarke, Wilson will be sold by the end of August 2013? That kind of rumour?

I seem to remember that the Walsall chairman said he had turned them down on a ground share. And the main bid for our strikers was a loan bid.

We know that all of our players have a price. I wouldn't like to guess at what price would be acceptable or what price will be offered. But nobody can say that they will leave or stay with any confidence.

Not as devasting as the 10% pay cut all the players had to take to fund the new stadium. That really destroyed morale.
