Surely he was on 8k minimum. Be nice to see this extra bit given to Thorn for a loan or two

Eastwood will hang about until someone matches his wages,, if its a loan we will have to carry on paying a % or his full wage anyway!!!!. So loans are still a long way off,as saved wages will go towards running costs of the club, and if you haven't learnt that by now you never will.

Sorry to piss on your chips but when in court over fly tipping, Freddy disclosed his salary to be £1000 a week.

And no-one in their right mind will take him off us.

Me thinks he’s on a tad more than 1k a week.

Jordan Clarke is on upward of £2k a week plus bonuses so I doubt that Eastwood "earns" but half.

So he lied in court too!

Jordan Clarke does not earn £2k a week you loon.

Bigirimana is on £1K+ per week plus £hefty appearance fee plus sponsorship. I reckon one of the clubs "top earners" in Thorns words is on a bit more than that don't you?

The Post above your's. Bigi is a local lad and people in the city do know him and his family you know. It's well over £1k by the way.

OK, if we’re going down that route.
I know a member ofAshley Cain’s close family. He told me that all the academy boys were on verylow basics, ie £250 a week. So we’ll take that as fact, like you have done withthe hearsay above. And from that I severely doubt that a club in our financialposition will have multiplied Clarkes salary by 10. Do you?

Freddy has to be on more than £1000 pw

- he was bought for £1.2m that implies a substantial salary in itself
- AT called him one of the clubs top earners - wasnt there mention of an upper limit of £8k pw for players around the time he was bought
- It was reported Michael Doyle was on £8k pw its reasonable to assume Freddy would be - his agent would maximise the salary package well above £1k pw
- there are a lot of 1st Division clubs that could afford £1k pw - look at some of the teams in that division and the players they have
- It certainly would not surprise me to see junior 1st team players earning £1000 pw or close to

How he quoted £1k pw in court i dont know

Ermm Clarke and Bigi are not academy players. They both have professional contracts, both could go elsewhere if the money offered wasn't enough. When a player steps up from Academy to professional, then YES there must be a large jump in wages.

On a side note from the wage issue. Isn’t there any way we could terminate his contract due to his attitude from the past 3 months. If in any other profession, you don’t pull your weight (excuse the pun) you will be sacked.

I think that a lot of people would hope so M&D (me included) but I think the reality is that given a smart lawyer Freddy could probably go for unfair dismissal or/and breach of contract himself. Given some of the decisions I have seen in this area then he probably has a good chance of winning ! could cost CCFC a lot of money

In a way I hope freddy sits on his contract and sees it out, just so it pisses the board and sisu off. We all know his wages wouldn't be used for loan players anyway.

Eastwood's wages won't become free until the end of his contract, which is the end of this season. If he hasn't asked for a move he is entitled to have his contract paid up. This means he is free to find a club to take him on loan now or transfer to in January. If he finds a club even then a good part of his contract will be paid. Put yourself in a potential new clubs position would you give him a permenent contract at xmas or wait until July and let Cov pay his wages until then.

I assume you meant he disclosed it as £10,000pw? That would seem more realistic

He definitely told the courts £1k per week. How stupid are they to believe that!! Certain races, creeds, backgrounds can get away with anything.

Yeah and I remember that Kevin Kyle disclosed 8k/week in his court case, he scored 5 in 27 starts & 20 sub appearances. Another bad purchase.

I can't believe Freddy is on 1K/week, its got to be a minimum of 4 times that, I'm guessing 6K/week.

From the mouth of Thorn on CET:

“And when one of your highest earners is not contributing there’s not much else you can do."

Freddy is told to piss off while Bell gets a contract extension, about as useful as each other so why the difference in the situations they find themselves in??

I think the contract extensions were done for squad stability purposes. It seems like AT thought the squad reduction at the end of last year was a little too much & wants to guarantee a cadre of players for next season. It might seem like a good idea to simply ditch players thought to be performing poorly & bring in new ones, but real life isn't that simple is it! Bell is a decent player, but like Doyle limited, unfortunately the budget is severly limited too, we can't go out & bring in better just like that, so you cut your cloth to fit.

Bell is not decent, neither is Doyle, the reason we are in this mess now is because shite players like Bell & Doyle have been offered long contracts yet aren't worthy of even playing at this standard.

£1000 a week wages aren't even uncommon in League 2

I tend to trust Football Manager on player wages. They're normally not far off .

It is worth bearing in mind that a first year pro at our level is probably 750-1,000. Clarke 2K would be about right I'd guess based on a promising season. Remember how most of our youth players stalled on new deals? Fair to say we played hardball with most of them.

I think Freddy was around 7k, but will be amazed if we get that added to our budget. It hasn't happened with anyone else who left us.

Oh and a quick gloat-posted by me 3 days ago:
