Pete,

Great to meet up yesterday.

  1. Can you clarify the road closures? - Winding House Lane is clearly shown as closed on the website, yet every week more and more people are ignoring the closure and coming out of Burbages Lane and turning down Winding House at speed! (Sky Blue Talk)

I have investigated the above and there was a decision taken from the operators to keep part of this open for several reasons, clearly the issues raised yesterday are concerning which have been fed back. I have been advised that this area will be closed tomorrow and opened as soon as possible. I will keep an eye on this moving forward.

As mentioned yesterday, please don’t hesitate to get in contact with any queries / questions.

Catch up soon

John

Fair play to John Taylor, he always seems pretty responsive and even if you don't like the answer at least you get something that makes sense.

Pretty sure the club read this forum anyway. Someone mentioned one of the car parks being sold out every week but them taking cash on the gate, at less than the advance price. Next game there was new staff and big 'advance bookings only signs' with everyone else being turned away

Got to say the car park organisation seems to be getting better as well. Definitely more responsive on this sort of stuff than the club have been.

just a FYI, it wasn't closed yesterday, or if it was it was completely ignored with zero enforcement.

added bonus this week that a group of 3 or 4 lads thought it was a good idea to jump in front of the cars and then start agro with the drivers shouting at them they shouldn't be on the road. complete dick heads hoping for a bite but all part of the same problem.

The road closures are beyond a joke now.

Not really fussed if they close them or not as long as they find a way to make sure both drivers and pedestrians are safe.

The problem now is they're telling people a road is closed so you have pedestrians walking in the road but then you also have people driving on the supposedly closed road at high speed in the dark, and on the wrong side of the road. That seems a recipe for disaster.

The old social club site on Burbages Lane and cars parked nearby the car sales just up the road…Cars leaving and driving towards oncoming pedestrians on to Winding house lane. They then turn onto the northbound carriageway. Considering the car park has stewards there, it does seem surprising that cars are let out of that road.

There is absolutely no reason for that to closed. The pavement is wide and there are not tens of thousands of people walking up there.

You are right, there are not tens of thousands. But, the pedestrians are on the road/ carriageways etc. The island in particular. A large number of people go up Burbages lane to at least 3 car parks and local homes/ road parking further afield.

The local councils choice to make it single file traffic all the way into the city speaks volumes about their incompetence and/or consideration of road users. Why not fix one bit of road and then move onto the next?

The roadworks have made it a bloody nightmare getting to the ground recently bringing a dual carriageway and a roundabout to one lane over what seems to be many weeks is not helpful

Where abouts exactly? Burbages Lane wasn't letting anybody out at all when I walked past.

I left the ground on the final whistle. Walking back up Winding House Lane there were cars driving in the direction shown.

Bizarrely there was also a car that somehow managed to come in the opposite direction as well. Fuck knows how they managed that as you're blocked from turning left out of Christ the King until the roads re-open and you can't turn from Wheelright Lane as its physically blocked off.

I was home by 5:30 so it was defiantly happening before then!

I actually got to the car at 5.23. I walked across the Island and the middle of the road. They let it free move I would say between 5.15 and 5.20 as people were getting very impatient behind the barriers

Same again yesterday. 2:33 when I went past and already cars speeding out of Burbages Lane. Oddly for a second match in a row also cars coming down Winding House towards the roundabout.

As I've said before not really fussed if they're going to close it or open it but they need to decide what they're doing, communicate it to supporters and enforce it as the current setup is a recipe for disaster.

It’s the people using the old rowleys green club site.
They are moving the traffic cones blocking the road off, and just speeding through.
They don’t stop for fans or the stewards policing it.
Someone will get hurt sooner or later, needs police officers there.

No, they won’t. People should use the pavement, cars use the roads.

That's the whole point. If people are told the road is closed they will walk in the road when there isn't capacity on the pavement.

They also have to cross the junction which again with a road that is closed you expect to do without encountering any traffic.

You can't seriously be blaming pedestrians for not expecting cars to be driving at speed on the wrong side of a closed road?

Don't think it is.
After the Cardiff games a guy removed some cones and the lad standing by them said nothing. It needs a copper there with a camera.People walking up there assume there is no traffic coming up.It's illegal to turn right out of that part of Burbages lane, but a Chelsea tractor in his haste to get out nearly took me and a couple of others out.

Aren't they just selling spaces on the land next to their camp?
